I am going to realize a dream this weekend and will be visiting the Ferrari museum in Maranello! I was wondering if anyone has been there and has any tips in regard to visiting the facility/area? I'm a little unclear if it is possible to tour the actual factory as well?? Any input is greatly appreciated!

    Grazie!

It sounds like you honestly believe no-one has ?

Look for the creampuff thread about the area which covers everything

Not a very nice welcome there GB!...... ;)

Seriously, there are indeed many threads asking (& answering) these questions. But, in short unless you're an owner and made "reservations" (thru your dealer normally) you won't get in to the factory.

As for other stuff, as GB implied, "search" is your friend - A quick scan of the "General" and F1 forums will turn up many links.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Enjoy. Even if you dont get into the factory which has to be pre-arranged, you will see loads of F cars out and about getting their shakedown runs before going to be cleaned and checked over, and dispatched to the dealers.

Couple of things, have lunch either in the Ristorante accross the road from the factory gate, or if you can get a table, at Montana restuarant where the drivers like to eat when in town. Both have an extensive array of drivers memorabilia on the walls.

Definitely go to watch some action on the Fiorana track. Coming out of the factory gates turn right and a few hundred meters up the road there is a bridge where you can watch the action, else if coming out of the museum turn left away from the factory and head around on that road for a few hundred meters, and where it ends amongst the apartment blocks there is a fence you can look through.

All new cars do a few laps of the track as part of their testing.

There are also some nice memorabilia shops just near the museum, but a bit overpriced I think.

Lastly just walking around you will come across workshops, panel beaters and other ferrari related businesses. The town is really steeped in Ferrari tradition. drive around the perimeter of the factory, lots of action going on, test mules, etc and find the large silver stallion in the traffic roundabout at the back of the factory.

I went to Maranello last September. I could not get into the factory because it was the week after F1. The museum is nice. They had a SA Aperta and a 360 Barchetta there. There were tour buses that would take you to the fiorano test track. Be aware that the ristorante across the street from the factory gates has very limited hours. I'm planning on going again next year. You'll have a great time.

I haven't been to the museum (yet!) but it's probably too late to get the factory tour. Save that for the next trip. Be sure to have dinner at Montana, about 2k outside of town, near Fiorano.
