Posted in Silver.. I must act quickly now https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/college-visit-miami-hotel-recommendations.674549/ Within 2 weeks, Gotta take a visit to University of Miami. My son is on spring break for 2 weeks , starting next week. Probably just him and I. I am very familiar with all south Florida from pre versace murder days and my college days. Unless another suggestion, I would stay on South Beach probably 5 days and relax a little....very little Not looking for a 5 star hotel, 4 star is fine. Just got to be clean and safe. Suggestions on South Beach hotels??? I have stayed at Delano and Shelbourne...20 years ago. thanks
Unless you're specifically going to party at the beach I will try any which way to dissuade you from staying there on Spring Break, lol. It will be a *bleep show anywhere you go down there, the traffic will be awful, and will be filled with college spring breakers everywhere. Ultra Music Festival is during spring break as well, while it's not in south beach tons of people will be staying there which adds even more annoyance to an already hectic week. Beach hotel staff are not happy campers during spring break. What's your overall schedule between the school and sightseeing? Would you have to go back and forth between your hotel and the school constantly? Reason also is UM is not that close to Miami beach, it's about 15 miles and the main road back and forth (US-1) has massive traffic. Just to get to the closest southernmost portion of Miami Beach during rush hour it will easily take you an hour or more each way. Even with clear traffic it will be 30-45 mins. My suggestion is to stay closer to UM and be away from the South beach crazyness. Then on the days you have time and patience you can drive over to the beach and hang out there. I think a great place and hotel would be "Mr.C" in downtown Coconut Grove. It's right in the middle of tons of restaurants and bars with a more adult atmosphere, you're just 10-15mins from UM, and if you go to the beach in non-rush hour traffic it would be less than 30mins. Ritz Carlton is also in the Coconut Grove area, and another nice one is the Mayfair hotel. Another area in between is around "Brickell City Center", tons of nice hotels around there and places to go out. Brickell is a bit closer to the beach than to UM, but still manageable. If you have any specific questions feel free to message me.
Depends on budget and what you’re looking for. Hilton Bentley, The Betsy, Loews, The National, Setai, Delano etc. There must be at least a half dozen + that are perfectly fine. But I wouldn’t recommend staying in South Beach over spring break. It will be a partying nightmare. There’s a Ritz in Coconut Grove and Key Biscayne which are nice.
Check out the Marriott Stanton South Beach. It’s south of most of the craziness and near some great restaurants like Prime 112 and Joe’s. Easy walk to the strip. Easy access to the causeway. We stayed there last year during Spring break and it was reasonable.
As others have said, I would avoid south beach at all cost during spring break. Just search youtube for Miami Beach spring break and you will see. (Just remember it’s all about the U).
Here is exactly why everyone is telling you to think twice about South Beach during spring break. This shooting happened last night: https://www.foxnews.com/us/miami-beach-spring-break-shooting-leaves-1-dead-sends-crowd-scrambling
And a second spring break shooting just 2 days later: https://www.local10.com/news/local/2023/03/19/south-beach-spring-break-fun-interrupted-by-apparent-gunfire/
South beach is a ghetto **** hole. Stay far, far away. I’d recommend the Ritz in Coconut Grove. Last time I stayed there was fine. Not too far from the University.
spent 6 days at Fontainebleau. Absolutely fantastic stay. I will go back! Image Unavailable, Please Login
