Hi Guys, your friendly neighbour to the north wants to visit New York City for the first time this summer. Looking for any advise on hotels to stay which are close to the sights (times square, central park, etc). Would love to visit the Ferrari Dealership in New York and also any other car museums in the area.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's a bit out of the way, but the Simeone museum in Philly is one to see.

Depending on which way you are coming. If driving down and taking 90E>81S>17S. Stop off at Monticello Motor club and take a look at the track before heading to the Big City. From there you can stop off at Wide World of Cars, Miller in CT, Universal, and then Ferrari LI.

Head back into the city and make your way to NJ for a trip to Arena/Gotham , Classic Coach and then Ferrari of Central Jersey.

They are all spreadout so it might take a while.

    Have fun.

We stayed at the Affinia Manhattan which is right opposite Madison Square Gardens only 5 mins walk from Times Square, thought the hotel was excellent.

The Waldorf is a great old hotel, if you can swing the Waldorf towers, you get a bit more room and elegance. The Hilton is a much newer hotel, it's huge and pretty much a mill. The Pierre, Ritz Carleton on Central Park South and Four Seasons are terrific, I'd forget about the Hyatt.
Either the Pierre or Ritz would be my choice if I was a tourist. You're right across the street from the park and within walking distance to some of the best shopping in the world. You can also walk to Times Square and the theater district. You would be a few blocks from the Modern mesuem of art and about a 20 block walk to the Metropolitan meseum. You're also with 10 blocks of the Ferrari dealership. Hope this helps and let us know how you make out. This is truly the greatest city in the world.

IMHO nothing beats Times Square - There are some great rates available from full service hotels so I'd start rate shopping at the top hotels mentioned previously and work down from the luxury brands such as the Ritz, 4 Seasons and St Regis to Full Service such as the Marriott Marquis, Westin or W and then to the more moderately priced properties like the Affinia brand until I found a good value or the rate I wanted to pay.
