Getting back from the mid east in late October and thinking of making a trip to New York. I have never been myself but have been thinking of making a visit for a while now. How is the weather in that part of the year? Is it decent or would it be easier to check out the city in a different part of the year? Are there anything in particular to check out around that time frame?

October will have a mix of warm/chilly days, It will be decently cold in November, but probably won't get bitter until December. Weather is pleasent though, and in my opinion the perfect time to come! Other guys will chime in as to things to check out around that time, as I don't live in the city myself.

depends on what you want to do. One of my favorite times of the year in NYC is around late November/early December when the city is all dressed up for the holiday season. It gets frigid (especially if you are coming from hot climate:)). Summer is good cause you can walk around without 50 jackets on.

Would love to catch up for some drinks when you're in town. If you need a place to crash, I'd be more than willing to give you my keys and crash at a friends and/or the couch..

If you're coming to town in October, borrow a friend's car (or rent something nice from Gotham Dream Cars) and take a nice drive north of NYC where the leaves will be changing colors...Lots of nice roads to be driven up there and the weather will be ideal..

Looks like I'm gonna be coming to town.... gonna fly into Hartford, CT on Mon 29 Oct and drive down in the afternoon. No real agenda planned other than seeing stuff and meeting up with whoever might be around. Fly out from Hartford on Fri 2 Nov. According to Google maps it's about a 2 hour drive from the airport and I'm guessing it will be more like 3 or 4 worst case if traffic sucks and/or I stop along the way. Anybody have experience?

I came from MA passing by Hartford using I-95 S last month, I took a little less than 3 hours to get home. It shouldn't be more than 2 hours from Hartford to NYC driving late night, unless there is a construction going on I don't know about...anyway good luck and enjoy your trip man!

Mark, I'll actually be in SEMA (Vegas) the exact dates that you'll be in town- which sucks-- but will allow you to, if need be, crash at my pad.. I can leave the keys with the doorman and whatnot.. Just let me know if you need it, and I'll surely do my best to take care of you!
