Hi Guys, I am visiting your fair State this week, (Dallas actually), and wondered if any of you have a few suggestions as to where I should check out ? It's real flying visit and I will relly only have Thursday pm to do anything, but I will be back again for alot longer next month maybe ?? I will stopping at the Fort Worth Marriot in Irving - 75063, any you guys want to show me around, I'll buy you a beer ??? PS - Is it Hot ??? Best Regards, Seb
That's great news! If only you could stay a little longer to attend the Italian Car Fest. For more info, please visit www.italiancarfest.com
Yeah, if you could stay until late Saturday or early Sunday, the Italian Car Fest will be going on. If you can't, there are TONS of great restaurants in Dallas. Pretty much, its the only thing that Dallas is famous for. Enjoy your stay!!
I'm up for showing someone from the UK around too. I would suggest the stockyards in FW. Anyone else?
Seb, Too bad I have prior commitment on Thursday business hour. 75063 is my zip code, too. I maybe available toward evening though.
Hey Guys, Thanks very much for all the very kind offers and advice, I'll be available from around 5.30, the conference I'm attending is being held in the same Hotel. The Rodeo sounds fantastic, never been to one before ! Probably need to get myself a Dallas Cowboys shirt too ??? My cell is 07771 874082, Please give me a call if your up for a night out ? Thanks again, Seb
Okay its Rob and I and maybe Yoshi so far. Okay where is everyone else Jimpo1, Tillman, Writerguy, Speed Racerette?
Here I am! I am 75% yes on attending....as long as my kid doesn't blow it at school this week with the substitute teacher and end up getting grounded. Aaaah, the joys of parenthood. Can we all meet at the hotel? You know, I'm not very good with directions out in that area. I can probably leave downtown circa 5:30 so I think it will only take a half an hour to get out to that area?
I'm in Phoenix Thursday and Friday, so you'll just have to 'yee haw' without me. You may want to leave your sidearms at home, it's been my experience that they can be disconcerting to people that haven't been in the Wild West before.
"Fort Worth Marriot in Irving"? So is that over by Irving or downtown Fort Worth? Stockyards is the best place to visit for an out of towner, but a long drive for most Dallasites.
Since it's the same zip code as Yoshi's, I assume that it is in Irving by DFW by MacArthur/635. If that is the case, FW would be a long haul in commuter traffic.
I guess that means we arent going to be eating any fried rattlesnake with jalapeno dip too! Below is the link to the map for the hotel: http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=Fort+Worth+Marriott&near=Irving,+TX&oi=locald&radius=0.0&latlng=32813888,-96948611,7491362994095470764 Here is the link to the hotel website: http://marriott.com/property/propertyPage/DFWAP I must admit the stockyards is trip, but it is also where MS went when he came to town.
Another closer option for everyone and still getting the Texas flava is Red River? Start with a happy hour at our official FCA DFW headquarters (Humperdinks) and then stumble over to Red River. Thursday - 7:00pm - 2:00am Ladies Night - No cover for the ladies/ $2.00 drinks all night for everyone. $8.00 cover charge for guys (may exclude concert nights)/ 21 and older only. Live music with James Hinds and Runnin' Behind. I guess they don't have a rodeo at Red River, like at Billy Bobs, but I do think they have a mechanical bull for Seb.
Fire Water is behind Humperdinks, and is a pretty good party place. With the weather being as nice as it has been, the patio should be fun on a Thursday night.
Geez, I never heard so many people complain about how far it is to drive to Ft Worth, but not so bad to drive out to Cresson, huh? I just got back from McKinney & Celina. No big deal, just apart of living in North Texas. I still think lunch in the Stockyards is a good idea.
How about the team do one for Tillman and go to the stockyards for dinner? He always comes to Dallas.
Nick, remember Tillman only WORKS in Ft. Worth. He lives in Lewisville so Dallas isn't that far out of the way. Where is Seb? He should be speaking up about all of this. Maybe he's on a plane already.
How about we plan on one of us to pick him at his hotel circa 6:00 tomorrow and then we can take him down to addison (tollway/beltline area). I wasn't sure what the budget situation is but I thought something like Fogo De Chao would be a once in a lifetime experience. Any other suggestions are welcome - I think there is also a "lodge" on beltline, right? I don't mind being the point person to call him and let him know to be out front of the hotel around 6:00. Just tell me what you want me to do!
