Visual inspection of belt tensioner for cracks?

Hi All- I posted this on the 360 forum, but wondered if this was actually the better place to ask?

I am considering a 2000- 360 that has had the 'variator' campaign done to it in 04.
I am a bit concerned about the cracking of the tensioner as well. Is this something
that I can actually request to see when I go to drive/inspect the car next week?
I would like to see for myself that it's o.k.. I have seen the photos on the forum
of it cracked and just wondering is this something that I can check without too much
hassle.
