I have been reading the posts on mirrors. Much is said about the Vitaloni mirrors. My car has the electric Tornado flag type mirrors on both sides. Early pictures of the car shows them as I am not the original owner. Upon investigation of wiring, the wiring and terminals for the mirrors are the same throughout the car and integrated not convincing me these were added after the car was built. I wonder if Ferrari put them on this US car or the dealer? My doors are punched/drilled with both sets of holes. The only addition to the wiring is that I installed rubber grommets on the inside metal door panel frame to protect wires from the metal edge. Has anyone experienced the same findings with their electric mirrors?

That's interesting, most of what you'll read (and see) is single Vitaloni California on carb US and Euro cars and dual Tornado flags on USA Inj and QV. The way you describe the installation, I would have assumed a clean Ferrari dealer install at new, but it's possible it's a very late US carb version(?)...is your s/n in the 30XXX range?

I have an early injected car with the Vitaloni Californian mirrors. I think Ferrari did a little of both (electric flag and Californian) late 79 and early 80. There are other transitional elements at that time - like the 308gts (not gtsi) badge on my dash.

I have a '79 GTS (US) and it has a single mirror. It was made in December and thus one of the last out the door.

It sounds like they were installed at the dealer or sometime afterward. My guess is that they were done afterward.

    Listers,

My car is a 1982 308 GTSi and has "0" mirrors.

Both doors are drilled with three holes and so I assume the car had power mirrors. There is an empty hole under the arm rest of each door where the control knob should be. The holes are empty.

The holes are drilled in a different location door to door. Right is in line with the vertical end of the "vent" window and the left is drilled half way from that post and the front edge of the door. I assume the drivers door is a replacement and I will need to move the holes in the left door.

Can some PLEASE confirm that the Tornado mirrors power or manual are the PROPER
    units for the car.

    Happy Holidays to ALL.

    John

    Thank you for the reply.

    My serial is 39755.

Do you have a hot tip for the location of a pair of power mirrors?

I have one brand new NOS Vitaloni Tornado power mirror. For the left side and complete with mounting gasket, hardware, etc. PM if interested.

I also have used non-power "teardrop" Vitaloni mirrors for early cars if anyone is interested.
