A question, and this is not meant to knock the aftermarket wheels, I'm genuinely curious. When Ferrari puts a set of wheels on a 200mph car one would presume that they know those wheels are good for 200mph (and more) and, as such, it's an unwritten guarantee that they're not going to fall to pieces on that once a year top speed run. What guarantee is there that wheels such as these in this thread are up to the job and a wheel's not going to shred itself just as you blast through the 200mph barrier? Not sure if this is a daft question, but it's just popped into my head. Great looking set of wheels, all the same.
You've got PM! While this doesn't apply to all of the aftermarket wheels on the market, most forged aluminum monoblocks are created equally. They're milled from a single block of aluminum. This makes them strong and lightweight. Whether they be factory Ferrari wheels, BBS, HRE, ADV.1, and a long list of other manufacturers, the fact holds true. It will take a very harsh hit to bend them, and in many cases, these wheels will actually be lighter than the factory wheels provided by Ferrari. When you go with the available 2 piece or 3 piece wheels, all of the components provided are still forged aluminum, and in some cases titanium is used, to keep them as light and strong as possible. A multipiece wheel will never be as light as a 1 piece, and since they have more components, they do have more that can go wrong. However, the wheels in this thread are 100% manufactured and assembled here in the US. Generally, as long as you stick with a quality brand, and go with a forged aluminum wheel, you'll be perfectly fine. The vast majority of the nightmare posts you see around the internet of wheels failing involves horrible cast wheels, fake wheels, and knock-offs. Wheels that cost no more than $50 or $100 each to produce. The GTR's and UGR Lamborghini's that are running 230+ mph in the half mile are not running factory wheels. These events have been going on for quite some time, and I don't believe I've ever heard of a wheel failing. -James
