It's not the camera, it's the photographer. :)

The right equipment does help though :)

Great shots, could you give us some information on shutter time, f-stops etc for the pictures at the hairpin? Do you use a monopod?

    Best, Peter

Thx for the positive comments guys. Much appreciated!

    Equipment:
    Canon EOS 40D
    EF-S 2.8 17-55mm IS USM
    EF L 4/5.6 100-400mm IS USM

    More will follow soon

For me the equipment must 'match' the experience of the photographer. Someone who start to photograph will not take better images with a topcamera and lenses and on the other side a top photographer can take outstanding images with a modest camera and lenses but he (or she) will run into the 'limits' of the camera sooner (like lower ISO values for example).

The images at the 'La Source' hairpin are taken out of the hand because you stand too close to the track. I don't use a monopod very often but when I do it's mainly when I have too zoom in a lot (400mm), but I prefer not to do it.

The shutter speed I use at this hairpin is between 1/60s and 1/125 (think the GTO is taken at 1/80s) and the f-stop is 2.8 most of the time and zoom is 17mm.

First 3 'drift' images are taken during the same lap. Others are from (2 or 3) different laps.

    Thx!

I don't use photoshop but they are post-processed in a digital darkroom (=lightroom) (light ballance, contrast, etc...)

These GTO photos are excellent! Thanks for posting. Do you have any 250 Testa Rossa shots? I am looking to purchase some artwork for my office. Thanks again, David

Will have to check and will PM you when I have some good ones.

The ones below are from the Ferrari 156 F1 'Sharknose' replica. There is a special topic about this project on FChat as well (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=240853)
