I was there also, racing with Roger Green from EVO magazine in advance of our assault on the 24 in a Porsche. We started with a Mini and finished 3rd in class - the first mini had 150 bhp more than our stock car and was a minute twenty faster than us in lap times, but we were pretty pleased with that showing. Both Ferraris here passed us a number of times during the race. Bizarre to think that the winners only did 40 laps in that 6 hours.

My first stint (which was my first race stint ever at the ring) started just as it began to spit with rain. I had the classic ring experience, dry for 1/3 of the lap, greasy for 1/3 and streaming wet for 1/3. I arrived at Arenberg to find 4 cars I think in the top 10 at the time crashed out at once because it went from dry to wet in a spot where you brake from 5th gear to 3rd to turn down into the foxhole.

I tried to find Jim, but what with all the time we spent preparing driving, didn't managed to find him.

I'll be there at VLN4 driving a BMW 320d this time. Awe inspiring place.

Mainly so that in an emergency I can tell the team exactly where I am by corner name. I have the track down pretty well to drive, but not the German names of all 73 corners

Its not like you can glance over there when driving!
