    Turns out my voltage regulator is shot. I guess that could be the source of a lot of ills - from starting problems to the wierd intermittent issues with all the lights. Maybe even the episode I had with the drop in revs under power? Opted for an aftermarket replacement fit onto existing bolts. Just out of curiosity, anyone ever find a source for an original Marelli in case I feel like igniting a pile of cash?

    No these aren't the correct.
    Look at the link I posted (item 130148459945) and have a look on fleebay they do come up quite often.
    If I was you I would remove the alternator and keep it safe (for originality) and fit a modern, more powerful/reliable/less engine power consuming/with integrated regulator.

    Yup!!!

    Did this on my Dino. Took a little fiddling, but ended up with an alternator that actually can charge at idle!!

    Lights don't dim at idle, turn signals down't slow down, wipers don't stop. Took some work, we fabricated a new bracket, but we mounted a modern alternator. Now my Regularot is just there for show.

    Might buy another old one to have around in case I want to go to a show. Putting in a new aftermarket piece (having it done at the shop -- I'm too lazy.)Definitely keeping my fried piece -- someday someone might think these are as valuable as owning someone else's owner's manual.

    I think T Rutlands has an exchange plan for the red box regulator. They are repaired/upgraded somehow. If you want to keep the original look, give them a call.

    Mike - sorry, close but no cigar. The original is in a red plastic housing, with three spade connectors on one side. There is a small hole to adjust the voltage (slotted screw).

    You should receive the schematics in the next day or so. I sent them U.S. mail on Monday.

    The schematics came, and they are GREAT. No need to get out the magnifying glass any more. I wish I'd had one when I was trying to find the clock leads! while I hope I don't need to use them too many times in the future, I somehow get the feeling I will!

    Well I didn't pay much for the old regulator -- the seller offered to keep it, but I decided it's one of those things somebody on this site will need someday, and then I can be as generous and helpful to them as everyone has been to me!!
