    Who here is or was a CVFF? I am applying for a position within my local community for a position and would like some feedback. I spoke with a rep and was informed that a training class has already started so I must wait atleast another 2-4 months for the next training class, any advice?

    Well, since nobody else responded...

    My wife's previous husband (deceased) was instrumental in starting one of the volunteer fire departments here. She WAS previously a department member, and many of our closest friends are current members. Not sure exactly what CVFF stands for, but based on the fact that one friend is the rescue chief, I'd hazard to guess at least a few are CVFFs.

    Not personally a member, but listen to the scanner now and then. Folks do a great job, but each and every one that I talk to complains about the politics of such an organization.

    Me? I responded to enough fires on the submarines I served on. They always say NAVY stands for "Never Again Volunteer Yourself" - so I won't go out of my way to do so, but of course will lend an able hand if I happen to be in the thick of things.

    David,
    CVFF stands for "Community Volunteer Firefighter", sorry for the confusion and as I mentioned it will strictly be a volunteer position. I am just researching other opportunitys so I can give back too my community and help others.

    So I mailed my application off yet I must wait upon the next training class which means, in lamens terms, I have two months to get off my 'seat cushion!
