any experience with them? looking to replace my stolen custom wagon. Thinking a euro sporty wagon might be the ticket... Been looking at the V70's... AWD, turbo, fits me... the R model seems like it can be pretty quick... of course, I could just buy a crappy little commuter honda... and then use the rest of the $ to get a Ferrari...
My family rented a turbo diesel V70 to tool around Germany and Italy. It was the absolute best car we could have ever gotten for the purpose. Even allowed us to push some Porsches out of the way on the Autobahn. Great seats, looks fairly sharp, the 'hopped up' ones are quick as you can want from a station wagon.
Definetly check out the R. The v70 seems to be the most popular volvo especially in my area and I have heard no complaints from owners i know. My only complaint is I don't care for the looks. My family is considering buying a volvo s60r ANother plus: That volvo safety!
No it is not really, I spent some Non-Linear Carrear working as an Assistant service manageer at a bobo store in Toronto. Also did a stint as Service Advisor. The usual stuff you would expect (clean injectors regularly) the new ones (piano shaped rear tail lights) had most of the nagging things worked out. The prior gen had some issues with wear and tear with the Front Sway Bar Links (would dry and crack causing clunking looseness in front end) but easily and cheaply repairable) and the funky third enginemount (located at the top of the engine connecting to the fire wall) The Torque arm bushing (contained in that engine mount) would also fatigue. Earlier generations had some issues with Rear Main Seal deterioriating but other than those the cars are very stout. The shocking number of people who can claim VOLVO's saved their lives in accidents is pretty impressive. Prior to the V70 the wagon was the 850 (R) I had a young guy come in to find another one. His parents had migrated their old wagon to him to use as a college commuter. A bunch of drunk's in a Dodge Caravan crossed center and hit him head on.... all in the Minivan were dead and 1 was in critical not expected to survive. He got out of the volvo and was able to walk away....
Buy one, you will not be dissapointed. Check out www.volvospeed.com. There are plenty of mods if you like to like to customize. Maintenance is no big deal. I did the timing belt on my wagon no problem. The R is great, 300 hp and really good brakes. I have 3 Volvos now and I think I will always have atleast 1. Edit: You can put a bajillion miles on them if you do the service correctly. I have 231K on my 240 wagon and 110k on the V70.
Did your dealership also replace headlights/brakelights for no charge on the older S60s. The DRLs burn the lights very quickly, but the I stop by the dealer and they just swap them out and replace no questions asked. Ducman, what year is your V70?
That was a TSB (Technical Service Bullitin) There was a time when the headlight linkage had the wrong resistance, the swap out for 2 new bulbs and an upgraded wireing harness to the bulbs was no charge. Also the Sylvania lights in the rear were actually faulty they made a BIG boo boo and had to comp ford thousands because they had to replace so many
