I second the sound of Daves 348. It sounds awsome and at 7krpms it will loosen your fillings. Well worth a trip to the dentist.
Uhmm taking a cue from "Gordo" in the movie The Right Stuff when he was asked who the best pilot he ever seen, the best sounding Ferrari? Uhmmm, MINE! LOL
I have to say that a 348 with a Tubi and testpipes..is a KILLER sounding car. In fact it has somthing over the 355..probably on less intake valve. It just has a real animalistic sound quality that is just incredable. The Throttle response is not unlike a motorcylce..far better the the 96 and newer 355. The 355 sounds almost as good..but it's just missing something that the 348 has...Maybe its the direct exahust rather then the cross over on the 355 with the valve..and the intake system..along with the 4valve heads as apposed to the 5 valvers in the 355.
Most who have heard one agree that the 365GTC/4 is the best sounding Ferrari road car ever. I believe it has something to do with the sidedraft Webers which have a different sound than the downdraft ones used in other Ferrari models.
I agree. Get a copy of the Ferrari Exhaust Notes CD and you can hear the fantastic sound of a 365GTC/4.
Almost all Columbo V-12 sound similar, and fantastic. The four cams are even better. IMHO, there's no comparison to the more modern cars that have to meet emissions requirements. But those sound great, too!
any carb car sounds better than all the modern cars carbs sucking is better than ferrari with sports exhaust
"Google" my friend...always "google"...just did it, and came back with several sites selling the cd....here's one: http://www.exoticar.com/pages/showroom_2.cfm?cat=Model%20Accessories Here's another: http://cauleyferrari.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=96&osCsid=832e3a56d0bee71f1e78527b99f3fe5b I recall seeing them listed in the Speedgear catalog too.
I think PizzaDude was referring to my 348 here in Indy. I'm slightly biased towards the 348 also. It makes alot more noise than you'd think! Hurts so good.
It's a tough decision, because I think all Ferrari's can sound glorious...either stock or fitted with an aftermarket exhaust. But, if my life depended on it I would probably go with the new F430! Even the sound it makes in video clips makes me melt...when I hear one in real life I'll let you know.
A friend took a video clip of my 355 (tubi and test pipes) that I would like to post but I don't know how to create a clickable link. Can anyone help me with this? thanks, John
I have to agree that the best sound of ANY road car I've ever heard was the 365 C4. BUT, in the good old days I rode in or drove a number of 250 GTOs: owned by Peter Sachs and Carle Conway. Carle's cars, 4713 and 5575 had two entirely different sounds - 4713 was side piped, 5575 full-length. I can't remember what Peter's had but all three sounded fantastic! HOWEVER, one car , to me anyhow, stands out above all others - the 412 MI. I spent a lot of time riding in it and working on it. Running it up to red-line (around 8,000 as I recall) on the back straight at Watkins produced a sound that one had to hear to believe - besides beautiful, it was LOUD! I truly believe that it could be heard anywhere on the track. Bob Z.
No frigging kidding. The most unreal Fcar sound I have ever heard! The Miura pictured is a close 2nd along with the CT.
A Miura. Not mine unfortunately. The engine as far as I know, is sitting in someones living room as a display. No sound clips unfortunately.
