Here is a funny picture, appropriate for the voting that will be tomorrow. If you don't know where to vote simply call 1-800-883-2805 I just called, got through immediately, and they were able to tell me in 30 seconds, quick and easy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
WTF, a runoff between Nagin and Landreiu, I though most of the people voting for these **sholes were no longer in the city. Are they being bused in AGAIN... Bad to worse.
Hey man, the people have spoken...It is only fair that the residents who still have an interest in the city be allowed to vote for their leadership. I take it your candidate did not make the runoff???
I think perhaps he is equating this to a situation similiar to the Governer's race when it was a choice between Edwin Edwards/David Duke. Now, I don't think it is nearly the same level as Edwards/Duke, but I do understand some people's frustration. The major candidates this time around made the mistake, in my opinion, of all sounding the same with their ads. It was all, "let's unite, work together, make a better city, clean up the debris, etc..." Well no **** guys! That is what anyone elected mayor is REQUIRED to do. It's in the job description. They should have focused on big ideas instead of typical rhetoric. A shame, because I think some of them did have some interesting ideas, but they never articulated them to the voters. Bigtime blunder in my opinion.
Personally, I could not care less which MORON is mayor of Hershytown. I live in Jefferson Parish, and we are burdened with our own brand of MORON over here. Besides, neither one has any effect on my bank account, so F'em. I am a little irritated by a few things: People who have obviously settled down in other states and cities should have NO vote for mayor. Period. If I lived in Lakeview and lost my house, then I am no longer a resident. I am a resident of BR, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, etc. Therefore who the F am I to vote for a mayor in a city where I don't live?!?!? What happened to all the rabblerousers screaming that they were going to sue sue sue sue right before the election. Now, apparently, "their" candidate made the runoff, so they don't plan to sue? The election was OK and legal afterall? New Orleans will continue to circle the bowl while the Ms gulf coast will continue to grow by leaps and bounds. I love living in New Orleans, but it is destined to be a small boutique city the way things are going now. Dave
Dave I agree with you 100%, although since I have moved to North Carolina, I do own a house in Metairie. Still you are right, New Orleans and its politics are far morre than I need to worry about. It is an implosion waiting to reignite. Wade
This is very true. The fact is that we all know the levee system was and still is inadequate. Those areas most prone to flooding simply should be rebuilt by personal property owners AT THEIR OWN RISK. No guarantees. A shame the system wasn't done right the first time, because the vast majority of the damage would have never occured. So until the time, if ever, that we have complete Cat 5 protection for all pre-Katrina areas, the city will most certainly be much smaller. With good reason! Hopefully we survive the upcomming hurricane season, because this will be the first MAJOR obstacle to overcome before any other major businesses believe this area is viable to set up shop. But if we make it, things should progress pretty well, DESPITE who is elected Mayor. Cheers guys!
Always so glum on this board about New Orleans??? I was not blown away by any of the candidates but sure felt alot better about my choices than in 2002. My pick did not make it but in the end he ran a lousy campaign. Forman or Couhig could have beat Nagin in a runoff but had they faced Mitch, he would clean their clocks with his demographics. Everyone new that going in. I will say that letting the out of towners vote was a no brainer as not doing so would have led the Feds to take over the election. Personally, while I have found another place here, I can empathise with those that can not and for this election, they should have a vote. Minimal impact on the results anyway. I think some good things are starting to happen and changes will be made but they are going to take a long time. You can not fix everything in 6 months after an event like this and Nola's condition before the storm makes it that much more difficult. Although I must say that after living here for 5 years, maybe it has been a boutique city for me all along. As to the comment about Mississippi, as someone from there, I can tell you that they are far from having their act together. But I am in a good mood as I finally fetched my car out of storage and have been loving it in this weather!!!
Wade, I tried man , honestly I did. I voted for Kimberly Williamson Butler 3 times at 5 different polling places what else could I do???????????????????????????????????????
I think it only right that you learn all that you can about someone as persecuted and oppressed as she has been. I mean c'mon hasn't this woman suffered enough?? Does she have to go through life with people like you not even having the decency to get her name right.
Frank I cant take man you need to stop. My arse is hurting Im laughing so hard. What the hell was she on that night anyway. She reminded me of Joan Rivers on ludes Wade
More lies, persecutions, false statements , distortions of the facts, and oppression, misrepresentations . NEW ORLEANS -- The Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office said it started a criminal investigation into allegations of wrongdoing involving Clerk of Criminal District Court Kimberly Williamson-Butler. The DA isn't talking about it. But Burton Guidry, the executive director of the criminal division for Attorney General Charles Foti, said his office is conducting a related investigation. Guidry also said there are issues regarding the uses of public funds by the clerk's office for certain expenditures. He said there are questions about the use of public funds for certain expenditures. Guidry said the attorney general's office is also looking into contracts Williamson-Butler's office made for evidence room recovery. A call to the answering machine in the clerk's office was not returned. Williamson-Butler served a three-day jail term this spring because she defied a court order to transfer authority for the cleanup of the court's hurricane-flooded property room to an outside judge. Former Clerk Ed Lombard -- now a 4th Circuit judge -- was appointed by the state Supreme Court to take on that task. After Williamson-Butler was released, she became a candidate for mayor, but failed to make the runoff.
