I just bought an AWD 2009 Tiguan SE with 43k miles for my soon to be 16 year old daughter. It has the 2.0t engine and is certified with warranty for 4 years up to 93k miles. I am impressed with its build quality and driving dynamics for a small SUV. It has a 5 star IIHS rating, which is important to a parent for a new teen drivers car. It's really quite a nice car for the price; I paid $17k. Anyone else have any experience with a Tiguan?

From my perspective they are saleproof.

Had a couple of them our lot and couldn't give them away. AWD turbos with the pano roof too. Sent them to auction. Like driving a tin can IMHO. Seriously.......

Tin must be strong as the Tiguan earned the IIHS top safety rating beating its two main rivals, the Honda CRV and Toyota RAV4 by a large margin. It drives like a much larger vehicle and feels as stable as my wife's MB GL350.
