I think it depends on your dealer. Mine is telling me about 14 months once I place my Down Payment.......Steve

I concur and it also depends on how many cars you have purchased from your dealer. I put my depoist down at the end of July 2010 and mine has yet to go to production. They are saying third quarter of 2011 for deliver.

Good for you, at least you are past the half way mark. I am putting my deposit down next month, so a long 14 month wait, but driving the F430 around until then won't suck too much :D .........Steve

Are the deposits usually refundable if you opt out when the slot comes up for submission of the order?

I ask because I'm sure I'll want a 458 at some point, but that is two cars from now. Gotta drive the current CS and then a Scud and then likely a 458 in perhaps 2 years or thereabouts. I'm just wondering if I should get in line with a deposit and timeframe and then can pass if I'm happy with whatever I'm driving then or want out for whatever reason.

    Thanks.

    This is really 2 questions:

    * How long is the wait to secure a production slot, which is purely based on your relationship with the dealer and if you're willing to pay over sticker. Then how much over sticker can make all the difference. Money talks!!!

    * Next, from when you have a committed production slot, how long before your car arrives at the dealer, which is affected by special options, location, and Ferrari's own production cycle. In most cases somewhere between 60-90 days from the beginning of production.

My deposit is refundable up to the day I spec out the car for my build slot and it is submitted. After that I must buy the car as delivered or loose my $10K. So all the deposit does is get you a place in line. ......Steve

You are so lucky! I am in England and my deposit is £20K (about $33K) and it is strictly non-refundable at any time!

I don't think any of us put a deposit down just for fun and games, but I must say that you really have to be committed to buying the car where you are.

That sounds crazy, since the dealer has nothing to loose that I can tell until you have spec'd the car your way and its going to be built. They just give your slot to the next guy/gal.......Steve

Well from what I've experienced, they say build time is 90-120 days and mine was ordered in oct 2010 and delivered jan 2011. As for how long before they'll give u an allocation... like people have been said, that depends on $$$/relationship wit dealer. Don't u just love how Ferrari controls the market that way?

If you pay upfront does it help speed up the process ? Or does the dealer still hold the cards for ordering. The actual production time seems very reasonable.

Well, if you pay UP, that definitely speeds up the process. Production time is fairly standard depending of course of how "detailed" your spec is. I don't believe paying upFRONT will make a difference.
