So, i have my a 66 330 GT 2 headlamp car that has not been started for 15 years. 15 years ago we pulled the motor, did valve adjustment, rebuilt the mechanical fuel pump, water pump and carbs as well as new points in the distributers. Gas from the tank has been drained for the same amount of time.

Shortly after the above work, I reinstalled the motor in the car (detailed the engine compartment while the motor was out) - there it sat until now. Im ready to launch back into it - get it started so i can finish the light restoration of the car.

Looking for advise how to proceed - to best protect the motor, cylinders etc. I need to install the headers and exhaust, wire and time the distributors. I will need to rebuild the electric fuel pump for sure.

Should i lube up the cylinders and cycle it by hand.....I want to get the oil pressure up asap.

Appreciate the advise....been anxious to get into this car.

Take the plugs out, a little Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders, then crank it over to build pressure. Assume the engine is free. Then, replace plugs and start

i would soak the cylinders with seafoam green spray lube or kroil and let it sit a few weeks. then hand crank the motor 1/2 revolution. resoak w oil. let it sit again then rotate other 50%.
do this over a couple months. then drain all that lube and add fresh motor oil. try to start it.
    patience is key.
that procedure worked great w a barn find etype i have.

Ed, I put one of these on my car when I bought it. At times, months will go by before I start it up. This thing pressurizes the motor to about 40psi at the flick of a switch, then you hit the starter on a lubricated motor. This particular one is installed on the car, but they also sell portable units where it's not a fixture, for those who want the original look under the hood.
