Walker O2 Sensor Install

Was recently having a little idle issue with my 348. The idle would raise after the car was warm and flucuate by as much as 200-500 rpm at idle. I would also get an intermittent 1-4 light.

Well, in the end I changed both O2 Sensors with the Plug and Play Walker O2 Sensors. ($69.00 each) I did not document the install because so many of you guys have already done such a nice job of doing so.

All I can say is WOW. I would never have beleived what an O2 sensor does to a car. The idle is much more steady, staying right between the 1K and the 1100K mark. The car idles smooth with no hint of the intermittent miss I used to hear. It accelerates much smoother and feels like it has more power.

Best of all...NO 1-4 light. Not once and it was pretty consistantly coming on.

I received the order in two days and the customer service was great. I wanted them before the weekend so I could use the car on Saturday and they upgraded the shipping at no cost so I would have them by today. Very impressed with them.

 

I whole heartedly agree.

I was able to do the job with an O2 Sensor (22mm - 7/8 inch) socket from the top of the engine bay. I did remove the air box just to make sure I got to the plugs (which are located just underneath it) and they were seated well. It can probably be done without taking it off for the flexible and brave.

I made sure to use anti-seize on the threads. I had some but the O2 Sensors came with it in the package. I also made sure to put a little grease on the electrical contacts for insurance.

Like I said, the total time was about 30minutes start to finish and was well worth it.

Coming from a Street Rod background where carburators are the norm and catalytic convertors and computers are not, I was amazed at the difference between a working O2 Sensor and a faulty one. It feels like I put a brand new ignition system in the car.
