Took the wife and kids age 6 and 9 to see the production Walking with Dinosaurs Friday night. I highly recommend it for anyone with young children. Its in town till the 17th at the United Center. The good seats are a little pricy but well worth the extra money. Lower level runs $50 a pop. So all of us cost $200 + $20 for parking! Still its really well done. A completely unique experience and the kids will not be disappointed. My only harsh words are in regards to the price. But the less expensive seats are in my opinion too far away and you just won't get the complete experience. We were seated Sec. 103 row 10. You get a lot of up close and personal interaction. The T Rex was as the kids say awesome!

I was wondering about that show. How is it done? All with full size animatronics? What is the "plot"/storyline? Obviously it sounds like it was entertaining enough.

How does it compare to e.g. the Dinosaurs at Epcot in the fuel exhibit? That's one of my fav exhibits (although I seem to just love all of Epcot anyway).

Haven't been to Epcot in years. So as far as a comparison I have nothing useful to offer. Yes, full size robotics for the most part with a couple of the smaller dinosaurs played by costumed performers. But not enough to take a away from the show. With show centered around an narrator that took you thru the various ages of dinosaurs spanning 160 million years. It was informative and entertaining without being boring. With full sized dinos from every age fighting and foraging, and each with their own unusually loud and distinctive bellowing. The show was aprox. 11/2 hrs. long which included a 20 min. intermission. The dino's were very realistic and it didn't take much imagination to think of them as real. The entire production and lighting was arranged in a way that would enhance that world in your eyes and mind. Robotics have sure come a long way. I'm sure others could add to anything I've missed.
