When I was a youngster this was my first ever Ferrari 308 book and I still have it all these years later. The Author had purchased a new 308 GTS that inspired him to write the book. I have confirmed the chassis # for Wyss's 308 GTS was 29463 and he started a "write up" as part of a long term owners report in Road Test Magazine in July 1980. Mr Wyss is still with us I believe and a well known automotive writer/artist etc. The pic on the books cover was from the factory brochure on the 308 GTS and was taken at Lake Como in Italy so obviously NOt the Wyss car! Anyone happen to know where the Wyss car is today or what happened to it? Regards, Grim Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe he bought the brochure car? I remember some of his writing on the car, especially how he attached a wooden block either on the brake or clutch pedal so his wife could drive the car!
Ingenere Good suggestion, but the Wyss car is also pictured in the book and is a USA Market delivery with the front and rear rectangular side marker lights so its unlikely it was the brochure car. In the July 1980 edition of Road Test Magazine Wyss writes he picked the car up new from a dealer in Monterey (CA) on April 10, 1980. It was a 1979 model and it cost him $45,000. The 1980 models were listed at $55.000!! A Kings Ransom at the time Grim
True. Was just kidding but if not for the marker lights maybe would explain the discount: car used…for brochure photo shoot, LOL.
Dr Tommy, It's contained in the first story that Mr Wyss wrote about his ownership of the 308 GTS in the July 1980 copy of "Road Test" magazine which I have had since new! Grim
