    Wow! Just wow...

Seems like a pretty steep learning curve. Has he even done
    GrandAM?

It will be interesting to hear his reactions to the performance
of the car versus what he's used to and what he's been
    missing all these years.

He's gonna race for AF Corse!? There's got to be more drivers with better experience at Le Mans than him for such a great team. Why would they risk that?

If MW can wrestle a 3500lb 850hp Nascar pig around a track I think he knows how to drive just about anything.

    How did Waltrip do?

Haven't seen or heard any news, not that I'm looking
    that much.

It's always interesting to hear NASCAR driver's reactions
when they drive a real racing car.

Hello now lets not have a prejudicial bias against a good Ole southern boy, he can turn right as well as most anyone in a car. I wish I had his talent, he and his business partner Rob Kaufmann have entered various GT endurance races, participating in the Dubai 24 Hours and also the 24 Hours of Spa, driving a Ferrari F430 GTE for Italian team AF Corse in both races. Waltrip, Kaufmann, and the AF Corse team finished 5th overall and 3rd in class at Spa, clinching a podium spot. So hes not just running white lightening, LOL.

    Thanks for posting.

All Waltrip has to do now is find another 10 seconds. That
oughtta be easy, wind in a little wedge, put a rubber
doughtnut in the springs, drop the lead bearings from
under the running boards and pound on the bodywork
with a sledgehammer til the car does what it's supposed
    to do. JK.

It will be interesting to watch how it works out for them.

May be different, but a NASCAR car is a real race car. Just ask Steve Hallum, former McLaren Chief Engineer. I would believe he has more credibility than anyone here.

    Sixteen seconds off the pace.

Blue flags can turn to black quickly at Le Mans
especially with Audis and Peugeots 70-80MPH
faster than top GT cars on the straights.

If you've never seen a NASCAR cup car in person, not on TV, on a track like Charlotte or Atlanta, you're in for a real surprise. They are on the very scary edge of adhesion, moving constantly even when by themselves. I'm not a big NASCAR fan, growing up in road racing, but they are definitely a race car. A fellow showed up at Summit Point WV for an SCCA regional race a few years ago and asked if he could run his Craftsman truck. They put him in with the GT1/groundpounders. That guy/truck was fast, staying right up with the leaders all the way around the track!

As for Michael Waltrip, just a plain nice guy and fun to listen to. I wish him well and if you have to chose a car, what better than a 458.
