I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE 355 SPYDER WAS THE COOLEST LOOKING FERRARI. I REALLY LIKE THE REAR HALF OF THE CAR, ESPECIALLY THE REAR ENGINE LID AND REAR END. THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT SPACE IS EXTREMELY LIMITED BUT I CAN PROBABLY SQUEEZE ANOTHER CAR OR INSTALL A FEW LIFTS. IF I ALREADY HAVE A 360 SPYDER, DO YOU THINK IT IS STUPID TO GET A 355 SPYDER. HOW DOES THE 355 COMPARE TO THE 360? HOW MUCH WERE THEY NEW? WHAT IS THE MOST DESIREABLE YEAR WOULD YOU RECOMMEND? WOULD YOU EXPECT THE CAR TO STILL DEPRECIATE? HOW MANY DID THEY MAKE? WOULD IT EVER BE A COLLECTIBLE? I KNOW THE 360 SPYDER WILL PROBABLY NEVER BE BECAUSE OF THE VOLUME THEY PRODUCED BUT I REALLY ENJOY DRIVING THE 360 BECAUSE IT IS SO USER FRIENDLY. IS THE 355 IN THE SAME CLASS AS THE 308`S AND 328`S (PRICES SEEM TO BE SIMILAR). I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK.

I went through this same gyration over a year ago. Looked at the 355 and the 360. If you haven't driven the 355, you need to. They are two totally different beasts. The 360 is a much "larger" ride. By that I mean it is larger in size and feel. It is a more refined drive. That being said, I was looking for a more unsophisticated, seat of your pants type of ride and performance. The 355 Spider, 6 speed of course, gave that to me, IMO. I tried the paddles and it just did not do it for me. I know I am probably in the minority on this but unless you are going to take this to the track and the need to shave off a bit of time on the track, the 6 speed really gave me the true exotic proformance feel I was looking for. I use mine at least three times a week, have had minimal issues with it and still have the same feeling I had when I first bought it. Either cars are wonderful though. Good luck on your search. I took about 8 months and searched nation wide before I found mine. I looked at over 7 (that met all of my criteria) before I finally found the one I wanted. The one thing I made sure of with the 355 was that the brass cylinders were replaced (this was done by the factory mid 1998).

I think you mean the bronze valve guides versus steel----that is hit or miss no matter what year it is...Yes later cars are not as prone, but still are prone...

Some prefer the 355 due to the lack of traction/stability control. But I have heard plenty more confirm the improvements in handling, engine power and overall build quality to give the nod to the 360. The one thing the 360 cannot compete is engine sound, the 355 has that beat.

If you seriously want one, only get a mid 98 or newer, and most desireable would be the series fiorano, which only 100 were built with lowered, more highly tuned suspension, cf interior bits, and a few other tweeks.

355's would appear to be fully depreciated at this point. Not to say they are anywhere near going up...they will probably remain flat for some time yet.

One thing I do not like about my 355 is the whole installation and removal of the boot cover on the top....something you do not have to mess with on the 360/430, which really speeds up the top up/down procedure over the 355.

Feel free to PM me for more info.

..... I think once he gets the 355 spider...... there will be no reason to keep the other cars..... since the 355 has been undisputably established as the 'be all end all' of v8 ferrari's......................:D :D :D

    ..........runs for cover........

Gus, I think that an F355 Spider is a must have for your collection! :) Maybe a nice, well sorted, just serviced Rosso Fiorano/Tan with a Tubi and Hyperflows would be in order! So much for the shameless plug, I will say that of the F-cars I have owned, the 355 is one I will never be without. Only selling mine to get another. Best looking /sounding of the v-8s ever.
