A TINY FRACTION of what that collection of parts cost originally :p:p

Very cool. Does it come with a really big tube of model glue and stickers?

    By Lewis Hamilton? :D

Seriously... I sometimes wonder if current F1 drivers buy the memorabilia of their heroes to inspire them in their attempts to follow in their footsteps. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I would absolutely love to have that, but I'll definitely need to win a lottery or two first...

Meh...I am a huge Senna fan..but the fact that it's just the bodywork and not the whole misses the point for me.

Why would McLaren let it go? Thought they held onto all their cars, especially a title winner?

And lets face it McLaren would have built maybe 6 sets of body work for the the MP4/6 for Senna's car and another set for Berger (not sure if that is the right no 2 for the period).

One can be sure that McLaren have the actual car.

So not for me, and I must admit I'd be very careful about buying old race car parts. Remember they build lots of display cars too ... and they definitely are not the real thing.

Traveling around England, I saw a lot of Senna McLarens. Donnington Park, Brooklands, Beaulieau all had them. Who knows which were real, display, promotional cars, spares, test cars, team mate cars repainted, etc. Though this is genuine McLaren; it certainly isn't one of one, but it is very cool.

A few years back, when the USGP was still in Indy, the Shell show car was a pretty complete Ferrari F1 and resided just north of Indianapolis between shows. Even today, a complete McLaren hangs on a wall just 15 miles from where I sit (An LH car I believe).

    How about:

'I sometimes wonder if current F1 drivers buy the memorabilia of their heroes.' and leave it at that?

Does anyone know if Jackie Stewart still has his championship winning Tyrrell bolted to the wall inside his home in Switzerland?

Well, the only reason I mention Lewis Hamilton specifically is that he discusses Ayrton Senna quite frequently, looks up to him, tries to emulate him, and this was also a McLaren bit of bodywork on auction. It just seems like the combination of his favourite driver and favourite team - and Lewis certainly should have the means to buy it.

All the F1 drivers revere Senna... but Lewis is seems more extreme than others in his devotion.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

There is one in the museum in Edinburgh. Don't know if it is the same one or not.
