Some friends are putting together a program for Sebring and Le Mans in 08 with a venerable mfg. Should any of you wish to join in with serious sponsorship $ PM me. Assuming you're/they're component it's not impossible that you could be or designate a driver as well and or wind up with one of the cars at season's end. (GT 1 LM)
No this isn't a P 4/5 based project. PF will be involved. GT1 LM and the car will be competitive. In addition to driving major sponsorship signage on both cars and possible ownership of one car after Le Mans is discussable. Best
LM GT1 needs all the help it can get, especially at Sebring this year. If it wasn't for Team Modena coming over with their Aston it wouldn't be much of a class with the same two Vettes again. GT1 in the European series (FIA-GT and LMS) is a different story, especially with Scuderia Ecosse running two 430's and their terrific driver line-up (FIA-GT). Sounds like the 599 GTC may come to fruition. I read before that it was suppose to be unveiled in January of 2007. The artist rendition was very nice. Conceptually the 599 is race car for the road. The work that Hamanan's done with it is "racey" - but their wheels are ugly. My first thought was an Alfa 8C Competizione but that's a GT2. They're running LM in '08. Should be interesting to see exactly what's produced for this thread! Carol
I would love to see the 599 gtc car come to life. One of my favorite Ferrari's is hte 575 GTC, so it would be cool to see what they do witht he GTB.
I would sell my soul for a racing version of the P4/5. Just in case you didn't expect that already. It's pretty cool the amount of racing support you have been doing lately Jim. Good luck with the F430 Challenge team, and good luck on this as well. Peter Hatch
Why buy an Fcar instead of a Honda and donating the rest? Perhaps this is one of your sarcastic posts, but I don't see it. I'm sure JimG generously allocates plenty of funds to other great causes anyways.
Please Stand By Come on, don't be a hater - that's harassing, rude, and so forth. This is R & T. Some folks have mistaken largesse for boasting. 'Napolis has, in fact, donated more largesse to more charities that aren't the subject of this thread than are worth mention. Sharing experience and opportunity is not a bad thing, either. Let it be. We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.
As an aside I have no financial interest in this venture. As a further aside I have no financial interest in the F430 ALMS venture. All I did there was to help the Porsche Team that won GT2 at Le Mans last year switch to Ferrari and all I'm doing here is making people aware of an opportunity should they be interested. I also have no financial interest in *******. As for the Glickenhaus Foundation that Wax spoke of that information is public record and speaks for itself as thousands of charities are well aware and as the KKK and the White Aryan Nation are also aware as part of our charitable efforts resulted in putting them into the ground.
Hooray!!! Good luck on the Le Mans effort. Unfortunately, I have neither the wherewithal nor the cojones to drive 300 kph down the Mulsanne Straight in the dark!
It will take about 10 million Euros to mount this effort and that pales in comparison with what other will spend. Ferrari spends over 500 Million Euros a year in F1. Audi a touch less for their Le Mans efforts.
Tell that to the starving kid. Me? Hate?...nawww. If anything, I may just hate my own power of observation... what a headache. Sure read that way..... I think I may have read about this "Opportunity for the common man" in another thread around here as well.
Carol Why do you see the 8C as GT2? I think the composite chassis would make it GT1. I admit it's confusing and I could be wrong. Best
Napolis, I'm not sure: is this an arrive-and-drive, or is it a sponsorship deal with the opportunity to get some seat time in the race? Regardless, I'm probably still priced out of the market! About 5 years ago, I had the offer to do a drive in Ray Mallock's Saleen at Le Mans as a paying driver. While it was VERY expensive, I still kick myself for not doing it. After all, how many drivers can honestly say they've driven in the 24 Heures du Mans? Better yet, with a competitive team? Missed opportunities... I'm considering doing the Le Mans Classic, but that's a whole other barrel o' monkeys. CW
What's being offered is "A" signage on both cars, ususal sponsor amenities, one of the two cars after Le Mans, and the chance to drive if qualified or to designate a qualified driver. IMO this will get a lot of Media attention and TV exposure. As for "Missed opportunities" we've all had some of those and that's why I posted this. This isn't for me but me it may be for someone and if it is I'll put them in touch. Best
In the seventies Mr. Chinetti offered me a 512S and a drive at Le Mans for 22K. He said 24 hours wouldn't put too much wear on the car and he'd throw in 10 wheels and some other spares...
