I am going to be in Germany this summer for about 5 weeks and I would really like to drive the Nürburgring. I would like to rent a car and get some instruction if possible. If anyone has any suggestions about where to stay or what outfit to rent from please let me know. Thanks.

IIRC, every rental company in Germany forbids driving on "single lane private toll roads" or something like that, it's a very exact term, and for a reason: There's only one road in the whole country which fits that description, and that's the Nürburgring ;)

We did this last september, if you want to rent a car at the ring and or get a pro-driven lap we used
    http://www.rsrnurburg.com/
they have decent rates compared to the "M5 Ring Taxi" and have more openings, however you should still book in advance.

If you take your own rental car just read the contract, ours actually included the Nurburgring and allowed it. Although we used SIXT Premium which I think is different from a regular SIXT rental.

There are many places to stay, we stayed at the Hotel An Der Nordschleife, but here is a list of places around the ring and all are reasonable (compared to larger cities).

Just make sure you are going on an open track day and hope for good weather.
