    I am thinking of an automobile related blog. How do I start one and how do I develop one??? Should I get a domain name like www. RussianM3_dude .com or is there a website that holds those blogs.

    Also, how much is it per month to have that kind of domain name??????

    Thanks.

    just go to blogspot.com and start messing around, far as i know it's free. you'll know soon enough whether you want to "blog" about it.

    but why?

    I have a bloggy system attached to my website, it's great for posting automotive news etc., but I wouldn't call it a blog.

    Check out Dirtyscottsdale.com, he started by posting pics and making fun of clubbers in Scottsdale and now it's huge.

    Nik - simply do a domain search.
    www.networksolutions.com/
    www.godaddy.com/
    www.register.com/

    Punch in a word you like, then punch in another one and another one... - it will take you some time, but, at one point, you'll say... "aaah, perfect!"

    I've got a few - one I picked up recently has a 3 letter prefix, and baby, is it a good one. Now in my free time, I am busily turning it into the *greatest site anyone could ever possibly ever fathom in their wildest dreams... well, maybe if they're a chimp³*. (chimp to the power of 3 - making them even more chimplike)

    For 100 bucks a year - paying by the month - which is, quite naturally, higher:

    one can get "business"
    and
    "private" registration;
    Blog and/or Content Management Software, along with other Software;
    a friggin' monthly terabyte of shared hosting they'll never put a dent into.

    If this seems daunting, go to Wordpress
    http://wordpress.org/ - you'll note they have Hosting solutions, as well.

    If that also seems daunting; ashsimmonds, who knows of what he speaks, pointed out Blogspot - it's called Blogger these days.

    Nikolai:

    You can get a domain name for one year for a pretty cheap price, under $20 dollars. The hosting of the website is where you will pay the most expenses. But if you don't use that much bandwidth and have a small site, which most blogs are, you should probably only pay $80 or so per year to host the site.

    These prices are what i have paid in the past and that was without much searching. Search around and i bet you can get it even cheaper than that.

    It sounds like you want to have a blog about cars which is fine, but you also might want to start one about Russia too if you grew up there or have lived there for awhile. I would think many americans would be interetsed in reading about your country and culture. I know i would like to learn more about Russia.

    What region/city did you live in ??

    Good Luck !!

    Thanks for info. Although I doubt I can write about Russia since I haven't been there in 12 years and lived in Switzerland longer then in Moscow. I can maybe write about the commie times ;-)

    You got a misfire there. I was talking about writing about cars which I do know about. Somebody suggested writing about Russia and I said that I don't live there so why would I write about it.

    So true - I had a myspace account but changed onto facebook, which is marginally better...

    Blogspot seems to be the best place for keeping a blog about any random subject. Some have even done pretty well and been turned into books. My girlfriend is addicted to this one: (some of the content of which is NWS) http://girlwithaonetrackmind.blogspot.com/ which got turned into a book. There's another one about a prostitute in London that has been turned into a book and is now a TV show as well.

    If you've got something worth writing about, then why not do it?

    However, if your intended blog is to be about the cars you own, then you really ought to check out www.auto-journals.com which I think is fantastic.

    I use bluehost.com for my blog, and wordpress for the actual blog software. Bluehost gives me some ridiculous number like 3,000gb/month in bandwidth. Cost me $100 for the year. They also charge $10 for annual domainname registration, and won't charge for private reg.

    I suggest them.
