Hey, From Autosport; Cheap, cheap, cheap........ Cheers, Ian http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/104183
As usual, Joe's pretty much on the money. +1 It's a shame - as an F1 fan I never like seeing even a tail end Charlie die. Hopefully the Pygmy will get involved (quietly) and get 'em on track (no pun intended) - Even move the whole mess to the UK. Outside of Ferrari, only Sauber & STR are actually based outside the UK, right? Cheers, Ian
Joe is indeed probably dead right. A US F1 team is still needed, would be an opportunity. I didn't say a good opportunity but still an opportunity
Beg to differ. A US jockey or two, yes, but a team based here would be a nightmare - Almost every race becomes a flyaway and they're a PITA in the scheme of things. I can't help thinking USF1 may have made it if they'd started in the Midlands - That's where the talent is for this stuff. Cheers, Ian
No, I wish Ford would put all it's resources in it. They could run out of Europe and the US. That would be amazing. But, it will never happen. There's so little benefit for the investment.
No sir! [But I suspect you knew that ] Silverstone is in "the Midlands" of the UK - North of London as far as (roughly) Birmingham with the heaviest concentration in Northamptonshire and neighboring counties. I'm in - Pretty good team name too! [Although I'm sure Is will come up with the definitive name soon ] FWIW, given *big* investment teams have moved forward and their principals made very good money - Score a few points and it's got real value...... Cheers, Ian
It would? What possible benefit is there being based in, presumably, Detroit? They tried with Jaguar - A complete and utter failure. The board was pissed that DC (IIRC?) was the highest paid Ford employee ever....... As I've said before, it's all cyclical - The big manufacturers will be back sometime. Cheers, Ian
You can be tech director Steve head of strategy. There are plenty here who qualify as pay drivers. I'll take PR and hospitality. No spending cap to worry about there.
I'm flattered. I'm worried! No doubt - Maybe they'll step up and put their $ (pesos, rubles, we don't care!) on the table - Call it "leverage"..... You also get laid a lot in that role...... Although, at 5'11" 140lbs you better make sure you're on top.... Cheers, Ian
This team (and Virgin/Marussia/whatever and the Fake Green Lotus/Caterham) was born in a world with a ridicously low budget cap proposal (insert insult to Max Mosley here) and without world crisis. In that world, those teams could have survived some years and then be sold to any Volkswagen willing to pay a fortune just for the license. That´s a world that no longer exist. But hey, they beat Virgin in their first two seasons, they were better than expected.
Incognito F1 has a nice ring to it. where'd I put my checkbook? wouldn't be the first guy to buy an F1 team with a bouncy check.
Let it die, or shoot it as it struggles with injury. First we have Branson being a total w@nker and then these guys ... fnck off and good riddens. BTW: If Jaguar had concentrated more on the racing than the parties they might have got somewhere but Ford forgot that success in F1 takes work, not just champagne. Pete
