Sorry - I am unable to post in the classifieds (being new to this forum) Looking ideally for a red or black 575M with under 40K KM in Belgium/France/Germany. Condition and History have to be excellent. Ready to buy - would rather buy a car from a known entity or forum member. Manual or F1 ok, other cars considered. Would also consider a 550. Thank you in advance
Good luck with search. Just for interest, what would you be prepared to pay for a 550 or 575 manual in that condition? I would suppose that a really excellent condition and history car (550) presently does not have a price tag (forget about guide values) and may be anything above 80 T€.
It may be of interest also, whether you are looking for LHD or RHD, since you are located in the UK? I never saw a RHD Maranello on offer in Germany (presumably no continental European would want one). Asking just for interest, mine is not for sale, since I intend to keep it at least one more decade .
The European market for 550's is empty. Are you trying to get the last chance to get a model for a good price for making Profit ? Daniel
mobile.de ? Gebrauchtwagen und Neuwagen ? Deutschlands größter Fahrzeugmarkt or European Marketplace for Used Cars and New Cars - AutoScout24 I would also get in touch with Clive from Used Porsche Kent South East UK | Mr 911 Quality Used Porsche he knows quite a few LHD Ferraris here in the UK. He is based in Kent, SE of London. And you are in luck...the latest ones are now just over 10years so no need for the CoC (very painful to obtain from Ferrari)
I see you listed three countries as your preferred source but do not rule out Switzerland. There are quite a few cars on the market here and one dealer has 13x 575M and 7x 550 in stock in one location! Startseite - Elite Garage AG Prices may seem high, and they don't obviously have a high throughput, so perhaps they are happy to play the long game but it would be nice to see some of these cars find new homes!
Import from Switzerland does not make sense due to high prices AND EU import duties and taxes adding up to these high prices. On mobile.de and autoscout24.de you will presently find not one 550 or manual 575, as Daniel mentioned. All have disappeared months ago. Not to speak of excellent condition and low milage. The cars offered last year were not of this condition.
How about importing from the USA to the UK? Is that a reasonable thing to do given the shipping costs, import duties, and car equipment issues? We always have several LHD 575M or 550's for sale here in the U.S. .
Exhibit A Used 2002 Ferrari 575M Maranello F1 LHD 21 000 miles for sale in Buckinghamshire | Pistonheads For sale in the UK... Asking £79,500 Nero met/Nero with standard seats and wheels 21,000 miles. Vs. Exhibit B FERRARI 575M F1, Occasion, Essence, 28'200 km, CHF 74'575.- - AutoScout24 For sale in Switzerland... Asking CHF74,575 e.g. £50k + 20% UK VAT = £60k/EUR84k imported. Nero met/Cuoio with standard seats and wheels + FHP. 28,200kms/17,500 miles. For a UK (or mainstream EU) buyer indifferent to Nero or Cuoio standard interiors, the Swiss car wins by some margin as not only would it be importable for up to £20k less than the asking price of the comparison car already in the UK, it would appear to come with a 'one owner' history, factory FHP, lower mileage and is a 2004 model to boot (those in the know would place some value on that). The only downside would be the small amount of administration required to complete the import process (speedometer modification and headlight adjustment) and an approaching cambelt service.
that is an unfair comparison as clearly the PHead car is already in the UK, and the owner/seller has gone through all the works to import it...hence the premium he is asking for (whether or not justified)
79,000.-- Pounds correspond to 110,000.-- Euro. I believe that at least at this time nobody in continental Europe is prepared to pay such a price, except if this car is absolutely exceptional. In addition, it is a clearly less desired F1, if it were a shifter, it would be something else. I just noted a well known dealer "testing" the market in Germany with 80,000.-- for a 550, new advert of today or yesterday. Last summer it would have been rather a laughter .... P.S.: I just looked at Pistonheads for 550s, amazing how many are offered in the UK. Even more amazing the price tags, even for LHD ....
With the Euro at almost 1:1, this is not really an option at least for continental Europe, since this results in quite high prices from our view over here. Add thereto what you mentioned. And then consider that US-spec. cars are not really fancied here and are worth considerably less. Car equipment issues would not be so serious, I believe. Except if you de-US the cars completely, including removal of US side markers etc.
1) There are decent-looking 550s and 575 F1s that pop up on the usual european selling sites, it's just that they come and go very quickly now. I have alerts on these sites and frequently the cars have disappeared within a couple of days. There was a high-mile 575 manual on mobile.de last week, it sold almost immediately. 2) Elite Zuzwil has lots of tempting looking cars, and UK VAT at 20% isn't such a disaster, but they are not the best at responding to calls, in my own experience. 3) As you're in UK and euro is weak, it really does make sense to go shopping in Europe. Just be ready to pounce, call up, and get on a plane the same day. That's how I bought my F512M in January, and something else this week, soon to be revealed...! You're competing with dealers for the best cars and dealers don't hang around. Good luck!
Example: A nice looking 2005 575F1 with just 17,900 km, rosso/nero with red piping, was up at the main dealer Italocars in Germany on Monday morning. I was tempted. 88k euros asking. Still up this morning. Rang just now: sold. Just gone from their site. So they do exist..if you're quick!
This came up this week and was still available when I rang just now: 575F1, rosso/beige, LHD, 46000 km, 56,800 euros = GBP 40k, a bargain these days. Dealer in Milan. AchilliMotors But you'd have to be quick... Good luck
In fact quite a few decent looking 575s (all F1) on the usual Euro sites and dealers, including a couple of black ones..many dealers closed Saturday pm but if you call 0730 Monday (they tend to open at 0830 Euro time) you should have some luck. Most have someone who speaks English. Now I'll stop! Trying to work..
Nice looking LHD 575F1 only 6500 km right here in the UK, all import hassle taken care of: 2002 Ferrari 575, Just 6500 Miles from new! For Sale on Car And Classic UK [C564999]
Yes, I'm surprised how Ferrari still produces F1 transmissions, when clearly nobody wants them. We all know only manual Ferraris turn heads and are desirable. Manuals are gold and worth anything someone asks for it, whereas F1s should be taken behind a barn and shot. Manuals make you butch, F1 gives you cancer. F1 owners should all be locked up and/or institutionalized. Now for something completely different: The tricky bit is finding a car with records and bulletproof past history. At least over here, 550s and 575s, if/when imported, usually books get "lost", namely the service book. I would start the search by sorting out the ones with 1 or few owners, verifiable history and those who welcome a PPI, regardless of mileage and transmission. Go from there and then start narrowing down the cars in terms of personal preference (transmission, equipment, color combo, etc). One thing is for sure: you'll have to be fast and able to close the deal on the spot. A great car may not come around once, let alone twice. Kind regards and best of luck with your search. I'll keep an eye open! Nuno.
Nothing like backing up a point with some numbers. I rest my case. Thank you, Terry. Rarity and desirability don't always go hand in hand. Another thing I'd also watch out for: rust. Although I'm aware the 575 for instance can be just 9 years old, northern european weather is unforgiving and salt on the road abunds during Winter. Some don't bother to look for rust during a PPI because, in their mind, it's a recent car and there's no need. Nevertheless, I've seen what repeated rigorous winters can do to wheel arches and suspensions. It's amazing how rust can be insidious and camouflaged, even to experienced/anal owners. Kind regards, Nuno.
