For almost 3 years I have driven to the US, flown to see cars in the US, and have found a Daytona to be elusive. When I did find the perfect car at a reasonable price, I called and the fellow had gone to the Bank , as he'd sold his Daytona! AS we know living in Canada, (and anywhere for that matter), you're best off to find the best one you can find, and then be a dutiful, proud 'custodian' of the motorcar. Does anyone know of any Daytona that is available in Canada 69-73, for sale?? I really would love to find one through the winter for Spring. I have spent too much time and money looking south of the border. However, if any one knows of a good one for sale there, I am keen. Most importantly it has to be a 2+ / 90 point type of car. One that'd fetch a gold or platinum. And I would MUCH rather buy it from another enthusiast than any dealer if I had a choice. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CAN HELP! Carlo
Tall order. I know of one for sale at legendary motor cars in Milton, its Peters car. Good orginal condition, as for a 90 point car are you referring to a resto, or orginal 90 point ? The one at legendary I believe is a 73 red/tan, good car. Good luck !! Cheers !! But I need to ask, I see you just joined on this thread, and already I see you saying that you own a 91 f40, and a 330gtc, any pics of these cars. Sounds like your such the collector ? Would really like to see the f40 since its a 91 and technically not allowed into Canada until.....TODAY !!! so to speak. Wow !! now you have a f430 on order and your number came up ? Dude, your the bomb !! Pics ???
It is a 1991 model, but as you are aware, it is 15 years from the mfg date. It is an 10/90 mfg date. And I wish I had a 330GTC, mine is the family car 330 gt 2+2. I have wAnted to sign up to this chat for 2 or 3 years, but always read them, and put off joining. Well here I was with a holiday, reading the chats, and thought I 'd finally sign up...30 seconds later....too easy...just lazy. I have a 430 but want to sell it as soon as I find an excellent Daytona. I rather pay more for the right car. My nickname should be 'Custodian', because I like to drive them and clean them, and pay FoO to service them. Cheers!
Do you know more about Peter;s car? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks much. This is a great resource site!
May i ask where in Canada your located? Good choice on the Daytona, ive always had a soft spot for them. Beautiful cars. Good luck with your search.
Im confused ? Does your ownership say 91 or 90 ? If its a 91 how did you get it into Canada and meet the requirements? Until today, it was not allowed here....inquiring minds would like to know. As for Peters car, its a straight car, documented well, do a search on Legendary Motors or 411 and drive up and go see it.
There were I think 3 F40's that were brought up to Canadain spec by owners here in Canada when they were new. I had the oppertunity to sell one of them to a good client of mine but the numbers didn't work out. That was earlier this year. Maybe Carlo bought it? It was a nice machine with all improvments done by the dealer. I belive the 1st owner of the car put somewhere in the area of 400k into the car with all the updates, new rims etc and to federalize the car for use on Canadian roads. There is another Canadain spec F40 in calgary at ZR Auto.
Good to know Tom...Carlo since you are in the Ontario region, do you have any pics of this f40 of yours ? Would be nice to come out to one of the meets this spring and see it. What color combo ?
Pic's would be great!!! Oh..and this summer bring it out to one of our get togethers..We would love to have this beast along!!
wow, thats great to have an F40 owner here! Welcome to the chat. Hopefully you can take it out to some meets next spring, we would all rather see your car there than the other F40 "impostor"!
Mine came from California...authorized Ferrari dealer. The model year is NOT significant, the month and year on the production plate is. Many 1991 models could be brought in at the end of 2005 because they have fall 1990 production (as mine did) There was quite a bit of running around to get the F40 here, and then a few days ago I searched F40 on the AUtotrader nationally, and there's one in QUebec for $425000 CDN!! If it is completely up-to-date, with a 15K or 30K (ie. all+belts) service, then that is a good deal.
Hello F40Carlo and welcome! I have a friend here in Victoria who has an early Daytona which I believe is a '69. I do know it's a plexi (Euro) version. I don't know if it's for sale or not but I'll ask him the next time I have lunch with him. I also don't know if it's a 90 pt. car since I haven't seen the car for some time. I do know he's a fanatic about it. He traded in a Porsche Club Sport and a Ferrari 365 GTC4 for it quite a few years ago. Cheers!
Club sport....sweeeeeet. Good luck Carlo. It's gonna be hard but not impossible. Most of our great Canadian cars have found new homes out of the country unfortunately for us. But you never know. Also, going rate for a good one starts at least $200,000.00 USD for a coupe. 2 years ago they were $130,000-ish There was a good thread on f-chat about the recent Daytona Market which would help quite abit regarding values and what you would expect to pay. I will try and find it. Also, call Rock at Rocks Auto Resto here in Toronto. I bet he has a possible lead on one. Good luck. Vasco
Txs Vasco. I was following that thread until I started to get nauseated every time I read it. You're right on for those numbers. A sale price for concours coupes in the last couple months have been around $225-250K. Did you see the one owner car on Ebay. Went for 193K. Probably reasonable if it was all the ad said it was. Did you see it? C
No I didnt see it. One owner? wow, for that price it was probably a nice buy. A concourse one may be well over $250K. A "driver" is now $225K. They are wild cars. I have taken a new liking towards them in the past few years. In part thanks to a fellow f-chatter and Daytona owner. The Daytona at one point was the ugliest thing to me. Not anymore. I wont even get into the competition cars....then I just become like a kid in a candy store. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey everyone. My DAYTONA WANTED thread sizzled out really fast. I thought that someone would know of a Canadian Daytona.......anybody have any other contacts/suggestions? Not having any luck so far. Thanks very much. Carlo
If you are still looking, I found this the other day when I was wondering around. Have not seen it. Don't know anything about it except what is listed below. I have no connection with RM other than going to the web site. You may have to wait until later next week I understand that there is some kind of car thing happening in AZ, or so I am told. Kevan RM Auctions, Inc. 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Coupe US Retail: $215,000 Serial Number: 14085 Please contact Mike Fairbairn at 519.352.4575 or [email protected] for information. Contact Information: RM Auctions Inc. Telephone: 800-211-4371 Fax: 519-351-1337
Take it from Kevan.....one of the highlights of my summer was him letting me sit in his gorgeous Daytona...very, very nice!
b-mak Don't know yet, hope to make Mosport, car likes that kind of track better. f40carlo Lengendary in Milton had s/n13017 a euro car (fixed headlight) with 51,700+KM on the dial back in fall of 2002. My guess would be that the car could have been from France originally due to the front/side signal lenses.
Heh, you and me both. That car is truly awesome. And on top of it all Kevan is a Gentleman who likes to share his passion with everyone. I have sat and drove a few cars, but never thought I'd be Daytona-crazy as I am now. Short but true story... I once saw a Daytona blast by my old office on The Queensway (Not Kevan's) I ran to my computer to post my exciting spotting of the day (and year). I assumed it was Kevan's but it was not. Nonetheless, Kevan came by my place a few days later and asked for me...I had no idea who he was. He said "hey how are you......I got something to show you....." Low and behold it was my first up-close and personal look of a RARE Ferrari Daytona. It was a great pleasure. Thanks again dude. You made my day. V.
