    Dear Dino enthusiasts,

I am looking for your help.
Of course we all know the larger car exhibition shows - Geneva, Detroit, Tokyo. Then, there are smaller exhibitions as well: Birmingham, Amsterdam, ...

The Amsterdam exhibition (Auto-RAI) scheduled in April '11, features a booth populated with classic cars/icons - the "Classic Pavilion". Preparing for this show, in this month (February) the general public will have a vote, selecting the classic cars they would like to see at this show. From each of the three era's (pre-war, '40-'60, and post-'60), the two most popular cars will be invited.

Having submitted my Dino 246 GT, I was surprised to find my car to be the only Ferrari-breed in the pre-selection of these beautiful classics.
However, it is now up to the public to decide, and as you will see - the huge crowd of historic Citroën fans have successfully mobilised their forum members in the past week, mass-voting their beloved CX Prestige (?).
So my question to you is - could you please help us getting the balance right again in the week remaining, and vote for the Dino 246 GT?

To help the non-Dutch speakers voting the right car, please find some instructions below.
After voting, you will receive an email in which your vote will need to be confirmed.

Tip: my Dino likes being surrounded by other Italian cars - by ancestry, the Bugatti would also classify as (sort of) Italian...

Many thanks for your support, and don't forget to spread the word!
    Petra

Done. But what an odd group. A French dork car, and a Morgan competing in the same class against a Dino and a Ford GT40?????

I think the battle should come down to the Ford GT40 and the Dino, but with all of those French voting, who knows!!!

Come on now, we from South Texas understand how to vote extremely well when there is family money involved for a potential presidential candidate......

Just to clear things up, my reference was to JFK's presidential election, and the Chicago Machine of the first Mayor Daley, and was not intended as a reference to the election of the current POTUS.

Come to think of it, you might get more votes if you post this thread under the General Discussion for a larger audience to chime in. w/ smiles Jimmy

Good point... will post one there, also.

Thank you very much for your votes, as well as the history lessons :)
The post under the General Discussion will probably be my last attempt to get votes.

I discovered the Citroën forum, where the complete front page is dedicated to their side of this action. Not only they are getting votes from all French car enthusiasts in the country - they also keep a close eye on the lead they have, and if any of the competitors is coming closer, they "simply" do another round of voting - and the threat is vanished.
They seem to know the history lessons as well... at least the first two parts (vote early and vote often)!

Nevertheless, many thanks for your support, it's great to see how far the Dino got with honest votes!

Interesting how it seems the French fight harder to get an ugly car into a car show display than they did to defend their country during WWII!

So, I never saw an update about your 2011 campaign to get your Dino voted into the "Classic Pavilion" in Amsterdam? Did you manage to beat the dorky French Citroëns?

Wow that's a blast of the past ... thank you for bringing back the memories!
In the end, the Dino did win the competition but with the smallest possible margin, the Citrophiles definitely had done their best.

So, the KNAC (Royal Dutch Automobile Association) decided to invite both to the party, as well as a British Morgan.
So there you have it: the French/Italian/British classics on display at the KNAC, with at the neighbouring FEHAC (Federation Historic Automobile Clubs) another small Italian beauty sided by a German piece of history. Classic history at its best (in between the otherwise modern displays).

Many thanks for your votes almost 14 years ago - it was a most enjoyable week

Wow! I'm glad I asked what finally happened. Hopefully FCHAT Dino supporters' votes helped push your Dino over the top.

    Most definitely, of course!
I noticed I had updated my thread in the Dutch speaking section back in 2011, just not this one... my sincere apologies for the belated update. And thanks for the reminder! :)

I didn't realize there were different language sections to explore on FCHAT.

Maybe you could suggest that some of your compatriots visit this section more often and maybe post some photos in the "Did you drive your Dino today?" thread.
