I'm looking for a Ferrari 308 GTSI from 1981-1985. I can at my best afford $20,000.00. This would be a project car for me to do small restoration things like re-leathering the seats or some general maintainance stuff like that, so I'm not looking for a show car. Just something with a clear title I can enjoy and be proud of. I probably sound like just about everyone who is looking for one besides myself!

Are you better at engine work or body work? You might be able to get one that threw a timing belt but was in otherwise decent condition. Or one that runs but has significant rust or this one which several people have said is a good deal in which case you would have $12,000 left in your budget to get it into shape.

Unless you're an avid do it yourselfer/mechanic, I'd hold out a little longer. I've been looking for a low priced 308 for years
and finally found one for 26k. It is in excellent driver condition and is in very nice cosmetic condition. The good news is that prices seem a little lower lately.
I almost bought one for 25k but the history was questionable. You probably should be looking for an 80-82, 2v as they are the most reasonable.
I'll keep my eyes open for ya-

Take your time...you will find one. I did...for about the same price. 80-82 will fall into your range so research the 2V so you are aware of it's mechanicals [i.e. sodium valves, smog equipment, etc].It needs some good old TLC...and patience. It's worth the effort ;) Just don't go too high mileage...look for one w/about 50K or so. Make sure you change the belts, fuel lines and service the cooling system right away. It's good insurance.
