UT models are the only company I know of that made them. Haven't seen them in any stores as of late, been 5 or 6 years since I got mine. EBAY has them, just saw one for around $40. Probably your best bet at this point.

My friend just plain out gave me his a few years ago, Orange too.
Unfortunatly the stand it was on broke late one night and the door hinge snapped on the McLaren......have yet to fix it. I should get another one and keep it in the box.

I have looked on and off for a while, and I'm pretty sure eBay is your only option. The UT F1s are awesome and the race liveried ones regularly reach over $200.

i feel a need to correct all this:

all publically avaliable lm's are orange (the sultan of brunei has 2 black ones, although they will probably never be avaliable)

the race liveried lm's are not lm's, they are gtr's. The 5 (+1 prototype) lm's were made to celebrate mclaren winning lemans in 95.

    Ut made 2 lm models:

1st - recognisable by blue box. Go for mucho $. Less accurate than..

2nd - more common. regular green box. more accurate (altho neither model is very accurate to the actual lm, they are more like orange gtr's...Long story..)

I lost a 1st edition lm about a year and a half ago by $0.10. Guy bid in last 2 seconds... :(

If you have any more q's feel free to ask

as we all know: Mc Laren F1 scalemodels are discontinued by now.
so let me tell the story of mine: a few weeks ago I spoted it while walking downtown at some electrician shop , at first the guy plain told me it wasn't for sale , then after a brief chat about music, he agreed to trade it for 2 CDs and 1 tape of metal music. currently it lives among my other cars. it is Maisto. just like the new Mc laren model

    Hey fmiffy.
I dont know where you're located - but I know thers a cardiff in the UK, so maybe you're there.
Anyway, you can always check out www.ebay.de or this link....

I couldnt find the car you're looking for right now, but there is always a lots of McLarens on that German ebay.
And the prices are not that bad either - so if you're stateside, you can buy a cheap McLaren + more in shipping or buy it in the states for a high price + cheap shipping.

the box of my new SLR McLaren reads: Maisto is the exclusive manufacturer of the SLR McLaren 1:18 model. so...
Also I want to survey: isn't Maisto the best brand when it comes to quality detail for money? they are less expensive than other and look much better!
like the new Carrera GT (unable to post more pix sorry)

Your silver one looks just like mine...accept I got mine new! Hah! ;) The box is looong gone though, lol...I wasn't interested in saving the box, I just wanted the car. Wow, you got those really cheap, and they look great; I think I paid $35 for mine, and that was about 6 years ago...but mine was new!

Its probably my favorite 1/18th (even though my AutoArt Skyline R34 is of better quality) it just looks so good, and seems to really capture the look of the car better than most scale models IMO (also maybe its my favorite because that's my favorite car period, hehe).

I wish I could get my hands on an LM...I went looking for one a few years ago, and dang they are hard to locate, and all the ones I found were on sketchy websites and they wanted $60+ (and ~$15 for shipping) for what I knew was a $35-40 model, so I gave up. If I only I could get myself a black LM, that would be great. :)
