    Hi Guys,

I am looking to buy a well documented silver/red 430 with low miles.

    Prefer 2006-2009, Challenge wheels.

    Thanks

    Haig B.

Great combo! I've been looking for a black/red, white/red or just something different. Nice cars are hard to find, most of the ones I've seen have 6 to 8 owners have sketchy service history and look road hard and put up wet.

    Thank you.

Not the color combo, does not have challenge wheels, and has high miles.

Wow I guess I have a skewed opinion on "high miles"... Sorry! And the challenge wheels can be had for $3k-$5k OEM, so I'd recommend looking past that if the car you find is otherwise checking your boxes.

As for the interior, I guess I always put that at the bottom of my list as long as the car looked great otherwise. But seeing how I own a 360 in silver/red, I can understand your love of it!

    Good luck with search!

Thanks Eric... I have been in contact with the dealer, we are apart on price. The seller does not have maintenance records. The car is not silver but I may consider it if they accept my price.

I can't disclose the deal terms at this time.

After 7 plus years of silver/red TR, hard to accept a change on color combo. :)

Wow, nice! That interior, exterior, caliper and wheel combo really works for the 430. I'm normally partial to 360s in Argento Nurburgring, but this one makes me just a little bit envious!

    Thanks guys for your help.

I placed offers on both since early May and still communicating with them both.

Tough call to just roll the dice and buy without maintenance records.

What will you do and how much will you offer them because of missing service history?

How much service and what type of service should have been performed on the last two cars linked to this thread? I'm interested because I am in the market as well.

I can tell you from my experience selling my TR, a well documented and sorted F car earns respect on resale and for that reason I am looking for the same when I am buying.

When I bought my 360 last year, I was able to acquire service records from the sale to the first 4 years, then a gap of 4 years, then nearly every receipt thereafter from 2009. I got a solid PPI report and bought a 15 year old car with only 24k miles. I don't know if this qualifies as well sorted and documented in your eyes, but it did in mine, especially considering the price I got.

Using the carfax, you can often find the name of the dealership that sold it and those that serviced it many times throughout life. Also, have the current owner send you a pic of the service book where there should be stamps from the shops that worked on it.

The reliability between a TR and a 430 is significant from what I understand, as is the cost of maintenance.

If you can get the last several years of service on it and a solid PPI, you should feel like you are getting a quality car, but obviously not the same in value as a 1-3 owner with every single receipt. How much of a discount this creates comes down to what you can negotiate.

Thanks. That sounds like good counsel, but I was trying to determine how extensive the service was for a 430 and what is involved in that regard. Obviously, it goes without saying that a car that has better service documentation is going to be worth more than one that has less documentation.

Did the dealer say why they had no service records. Was it purchased by them as a bank repro, or thru a dealer auction? Has the dealer tried to contact the name of the person or company on the front of the title? If they deal very much at all it high end cars, they would know how more value that adds to the sale of the car..... unless, they DO have the service records, & there items on the records, they don't want you to know about. Got into a similar situation a few years ago on a Jaguar, turned out the motor, had been changed!

Well said... I am careful and very selective. One got it from the auction and another from a dealer trade.
