Can some one give me a real explanation of why Diesel became, and stayed (mostly), more expensive than gasoline?

How can it be? Its a heavy dirty cut.

My customers in my work are in the trucking industry. The only explanation for the increase in diesel is because....they can.
About 4 months ago, diesel suddenly became more expensive than regular and I started asking my customers why.
    They can.
You can choose not to drive as much, but freight has to continue and the demand is there to pull the freight so they just upped the price.

does where you live have government grant on diesel for truckies like Australia?

logistics needs diesel to keep stuff moving. there is no other alternatives.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

If you are asking: is there a gov't subsidy to truckers, I think probably not.

I think i read on here that diesel shot up because the oil companies didnt want people to buy diesel cars to get the cheaper gas with which you get better gas mileage. The guy used a big word that meant falsely inflated, i had to use a thesauraus

In Malaysia, it's the other way round...Diesel costs HALF of Gasoline, 97RON. However, for private passenger cars, the annual road-tax for diesel cars is DOUBLE..

ROFL, was that me? I know I advanced the same theroey, but if I used a big word, I probally made your job harder by mis-spelling it!!!

    Best!
    Ben.

PS: I maintain that it's an artificial jack to convince people not to buy diesel cars which get 60mpg.

Diesel is now cheaper, at least it is here. Regular unleaded = $3.29, Diesel = $2.89 this morning.

only because of the gas spikes. Uro's point still holds valid. I too noticed the price hike and was surprised. Seems Ben / Cool kid are probably right - because they can. It's all pretty incestuous.
