    ..Spielberg should be ashamed.

Not only did I want MY time back, I wanted Gwen's money back for renting this sorry excuse for a movie.. I even wanted the money back for the booze I bought before I sat down to watch it; we'll leave the breathable air out of the argument for now.

Seeing Independence Day reruns on TBS is no reason to bring classic back from the dead in an attempt to make a few more bucks for the summer home. Cruise sucked, Fanning scared me (as usual) and the whole premise of the flick was weak-- my biggest regret is a wish that I could've also had a 2-50M+ payday off of this turd.

Jaws, Raiders, ET.. even AI was a better waste of time. Lay off the weed and give us something that we'll be happy to pay out the nose for, mmmmmm k?

I think when T.Cruise made his pact with the devil, he said, "I want to be a movie star!"
He forgot to say, "I want to be a great actor!"
For now, the joke is on anyone who pays to see him at work.
Ultimately, the joke will be on him.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie but my one criticism is that it went from conflict to resolution almost immediately. The film needed more time to develop the transition.
I thought the SFX was stunning and very effectively hair raising!

I thought it was a good movie..from a SFX point of view..but I am kind of a junkie for SFX in any movie good or bad.

I really liked the scene when the first machine makes an appearance in the city, I thought the effects were outstanding, almost looked too real!! Acting? Ha you don't go see a movie like that for the acting!! Just like you don't buy a Ferrari to sneek around in un-noticed!!

Here here......... For starters I wanted the remake from the original one with Gene Barry, not this one. (and then they put him in the last scene...doh). Dont know bout anyone else, but the picture quality on the DVD was a bit poor..........? Which seemed strange considering is was a StevenS movie.

This reminded me of when I waited so long for an Aliens3............ saw that and well, if you saw it enough said.

I thought the movie was INCREDIBLY intense, had wonderful cinematography, and unlike the original; I never once burst out laughing.

He wanted to show an example of what it would be like for American's to be refugees.

Instead of a GREAT Sci-Fi we got a movie about Divorce, Brat Kids, and the sadness of a Refugee Experience.

F*CK you Spielberg....I want my money and time back. I went to see a great Sci-Fi movie and have some fun!

What is wrong with making a Sci-Fi movie about ........ Sci-Fi for a change?

I hear that one alot... but have you seen the original? The ending in the re-make was SPECTACULAR compared to the original.

    Mark,

What is an example of a great Sci-Fi movie then? lol

The first 3 Star Wars movies are Sci-Fi and just Sci-Fi... they did pretty good.

But look at Jurassic Park III .... it was about a divorced couple fighting and looking for their lost child.
I went to see a Dino movie and had to sit through the saddness of Divorce Court.

This War of the Worlds was just Spielberg doing "Schindlers List" over.

Both Predator and Alien did some good box-office $$$ business without having to make the movie about
divorced parents and their poorly raised children.

Many movies do Sci-Fi just fine with kids (I'm not against kids in a movie) Jurassic Park I and II are both fun So was Close Encounters, Independence Day, and E.T.

But any movie that ends just because the father with bad parenting skills saves his screaming kid...
has jumped off the Sci-Fi track.

Yes, and it had a little kid...but she added to the Sci-Fi of the movie. Newt

Not just tossed in to get females into the theaters, by making the move appeal to the widest total audience $$$

I found lots of scenes in the movie to be like that. It would be so scary if something like that happened in real life.

I also wanted to punch the kids in the face. And it did go from conflict to resolution too quickly.
I liked the movie a lot though.

Now if you want to vote for best 40's, 50's, 60's Sci-Fi remake.... it has to be "The Thing" by John Carpentor

I did not care for the movie either. THought it was the worst S.S. movie I have seen. I was glad it went from conflict to resolution quickly, the movie was over faster that way!!
