    Hello,
I am in the middle of rebuilding the WUR in my 1980 GTSi. The regulator was rebuilt before I got the car (20 years ago) by "Fuel Injection Corp"
    1. a pain to have to drill out the rivets .
    2. Below is a photo taken from a You Tube video--There is a spring between the bottom and intermediate plates . Image Unavailable, Please Login

My regulator does not have a spring in this position.

Question: Since there are several variations of WUR, do some have a spring in this location and some do not?
The only other difference I could tell is location of the bottom vacuum fitting.

Car was having cold start issues and idling was off. I have already rebuilt the Fuel Distributor and am setting up to balance the outputs. Cold start valve fixed. Thermotime switch replace.
Thanks in advance for your input.

I think the answer to your question is "yes". There are two main types of Ferrari WUR:

Early Type: K-Jet without Lambda WUR (which is what your model would have regardless of version). This WUR senses the intake manifold vacuum to add/subtract enrichment. Your best reference is Fig 11 on page D13 of the Mondial8/QV WSM (it does not have a spring between the bottom and intermediate plates):

Later Type: K-Jet with Lambda WUR (this is what is used on 1984-85 US 308QV and 1986-89 US 328). This WUR only senses the atmospheric pressure to add/subtract enrichment. I can't recall ever finding a good drawing of this WUR in the F documentation.

PS Porsche, Volvo, MB, etc. also used a bunch of different WURs so keep that in mind when viewing Youtube if the WUR shown is not specifically identified.

    Steve,
Appreciate the reply. I have that WSM and saw the diagram and came to the same conclusion. The CIS system, in general, contains many different iterations, and I have spent hours on FC and elsewhere trying to figure this out.
Now I know why I have never been able to find the damn Lambda sensor in my car............
The YT video was of a Porsche WUR rebuild...........it was the closet one in configuration to mine that I was able to find.
As I mentioned, the WUR had been previously rebuilt. "Fuel Injection Corp" must not have removed the rivets to replace the plate-valve. I can't imagine they would rebuild with rivets, but I have been wrong before.

I have used Fuel Injection Corp many times. They used to be right down the road from me and I got to know the owner. I never saw any questionable work from them. The problem with WURs is the same with carbs, they get blamed for a lot they are not responsible for then someone takes them apart. I would not be highly confident FIC was the last to lay hands on it.
