I bought my first Ferrari with Ferrari LI, I was pretty excited and although I've bought cars before I admit I was careless in purchasing and didn't check the tires. They sold me a car with tires from 2016, and I spun out while barely accelerating in the first week.

Had the tires changed and no issues in the months since. I am not a very aggressive driver.

Just because you are buying from Ferrari does not mean you are getting quality service.

    This is your opening post?

    1 Buyer Beware
2...Ferrari Long Island actually has a good reputation...mostly.. but you should have had a PPI, and negotiated that into price..
3..FOLI...should have caught that too, maybe it was a consignment car.

    Oh come on.

How hard is it to check date codes on tires? One of the easiest things to do when looking over a used car.

Last used car I bought, tires were 7 or 8 years old as it sat on the lot. Pointed it out to the sales guy and we split the cost, or at least I thought we did, by his discounting the price about $800. They had already shown me a fairly extensive list of maintenance items they had addressed prior to putting the car on the lot.

When I showed up to pick up the car, it had new Michelin rubber all around. Dealer made no mention of it, so I did. He said, "I was a little embarrassed we didn't catch that before we put it on the lot, so after you left we ordered new tires and put 'em on."

I mean this is a pretty easy to avoid buyer be-aware item, isn't it?

Not everyone took Auto Shop in high school...
if you did or did not take it in HS..A pre purchase inspection is in order for any used car over $75,000.00

Not to excuse myself, but I did mention I was careless. I agree with everyone here it's my fault ultimately. Also, I am under 30 and had an idea in my head buying a Ferrari would be different than buying a Mazda. For example, if I shop at Loro Piana there is a higher level of service than the Gap. I was just shocked to find out this isn't the case.

Hopefully, while researching, another person of my apparently below average intelligence and conscientiousness will find this thread and avoid the same mistake.

It seems the seller saved some money by not installing safe tires

Don’t let the Ferrari badge fool you. In the end it is still just a used car.

Was this car picked up in freezing cold weather? Those tires and the cold weather around here are a recipe for disaster and it has nothing to do with the age of the tires. They are a totally 1st class dealership.

    1. Clearly, you lack understanding of physics; this doesn't just happen.
    2. Tire stamps are on every tire sold in the US, and you could've raised the issue before the completion of the sale.
    3. Blaming others for your own lack of knowledge is why we have instructions on a Pop-Tart box.
    4. Drama queen post like yours ain't gonna earn you many friends...AND the Ferrari circle is very small.

You are 100 percent in the right. The Ferrari dealership should have replaced the tires based on their age when offering the car for sale. Quite frankly I don't agree with some of the negative responses I've seen to your text. The Ferrari brand is as good as the people representing it. While many dealerships do the right thing, in this case your dealership didn't represent it well at all. They do know how to do one thing well though. They know how to charge top dollar for a car regardless of the way it is presented. Bottom line: don't assume they'll do the right thing, check and recheck all the boxes before purchasing.

I was expecting negative replies to be honest, but I’m hopeful this post will help avoid others make the same mistake as I have.

As for John, I bought my first Ferrari at 25 this year. I think I’ll be okay if a few of you guys find me dramatic.

    Well...

    Michelin says...

Michelin recommends that tires be inspected by a professional at least once a year after five years of use. As a precaution, they recommend replacing tires ten years after their date of manufacture, even if they appear to be in good condition.

Pirelli does not make an age limit recommendation.

I am a firm believer in a hard stop at 6 yrs but the tyre companies don't agree.

Why would you wait to post about something in February that happened in the summer? This makes no sense at all. A first time post from someone complaining about an incredibly reputable dealership, 7 months after the supposed incident, doesn’t add up.

There’s a very reasonable explanation for the above and lack of public discussion if you think hard enough
