I see a yellow warning light that looks like a car on a slippery track. It must be the traction control coming on. Seemed to happen when turning in to a bend on a wet road - rather than the more typical accelerating out.

The odd thing - my 458 manual does not show this particular warning light. Clearly it is traction control, but I would be interested on a bit more detail (given there are many parts to it)?

And not crash while taking the picture of your 458 dash as the tires are no longer gripping the pavement?

    What's the outside temperature?
I saw a warning on the HUD on my EVO (with torque vectoring) that I thought was the computer telling me about traction loss I couldn't feel.
Instead, it's a Fed-mandated ice warning whenever the outside temp drops below a certain number.
    Comes on regardless of traction.

I think that ice warning is usually a snowflake

Thanks for the comment though, I did not know it was federally mandated.

Maybe that is why it is set to 37 degrees F?

Here is some info on why the light flashes. Basically telling you that when flashing the system is helping control your car.

On the EVO, the HUD beeps and displays "possible icy roads" -- which is why I thought it came from the torque vectoring traction control.

37F or 4C are pretty standard temp warnings.
The EVO X (like Ferraris) come OEM with summer-only tires that lose grip below 40F.
(I switched the EVO to all-season tires.)

The EVO also blinks the traction light (and tosses up a larger one on the HUD) when I break loose a wheel.
(I'm impressed that, even with the AWD torque vectoring, I can still manage a low speed rear slide. (Like a handbrake turn by weight shifting.))

I am interested to know where the warning light is located on the instrument panel of the 458.
