According to The Journal of Business & Design, insurance records show red cars involved in a higher incidence of traffic accidents and Brazil and Ecuador forbid individuals from driving them.Optically, red advances, creating the impression that red objects are closer than they are. Red also gets the adrenaline pumping , so "accident-prone red cars may say more about their drivers than their visability on the road".

We have red. Never had problems with it.

OK. For whom do you drive the car? For me, I drive for MY pleasure. I drive fast. I drive early. I prefer anonymity. I enjoy my car. I never get close to any other driver. If traffic is too heavy, I forget about it. Do I care if anyone gawks? NO! after several people see the "Horse" and compliment you on the nice new Mustang, you make a decision. Just drive and enjoy.

Might you refrain from insulting my red llama? The ecru alpaca has already expressed disdain for your comment. Shame upon you, sir.

    Yin,

I had a silver car for many years and it seemed to me to have more incidents of people failing to see it and pulling out in front of it .....blending into the pavement, I dunno....

Around the same time I had a bike, and IT was definately invisible! LOL!

I read a survey 10 years ago that said exactly the opposite. It said red was safest because of the high visibilty. Brown and green were the least safe because of the low visibilty.

    Who you gonna believe.

So we now have 3 different opinions for accident-prone colors: red, black, brown, green and now silver. What's left? :D

    haha...

I agree with the statement above about who you drive you car for, if you dont care about your car, then you probably dont want red, but for me, red is the best

The biggest risk is not being able to find your car at Ferrari events.

I would guess black isn't especially safe. But it looks incredible, so I choose to live a life of danger.

My father owned a trucking company and bought only red tractors because he had read an article that said red had the highest visibilty and lowest accident rate of all vehicle colors. He started this around 84 or 85 so the article he read must have been 20+ years old. The more I thought about it it would seem to be the most visible. Not much in a typical landscape on the road where a red vehicle would be camouflaged or blend in. Most other popular colors can be found and could blend in momentarily to it's surroundings.
