Traffic tickets, potential accidents with bodily harm.....especially more apt to occur to owners of 77 GTB, in red/blk and red/tan. Don't wait til your next insurance bill! Take action before market dips some more.

I recall a study done when I was first looking for a car, maybe 20 years ago, that said dark blue was the most dangerous colour because it only reflected 2% of light at night, where black reflected 3%. I remember yellow being the safest :)

    I agree with this part-
"Red also gets the adrenaline pumping" it sure does for me.
It's comical- red is among the easiest to spot and thus avoid, it should be among the safest.
I could see black being dangerous, especially at night.

Psych 101: Yellow is the safest color. Easiest to see day and night. Firetrucks are more and more becoming yellow to yellow-green.

Red is an agressive color. It makes people want to race and pass them. Have read articles that they are involved in more accidents than any other color.

(My insurance company does not know the colors of my cars. unless its hidden in the VIN number. Of course, cars can be repainted any color.)

Well, I thought the fire engines were red in order to drive fast like a Ferrari.

In the US, a study back in the '60s found that red was not particularly visible in fog ... or smoke.

That's why most fire engines now are yellow.

On my Alfa, I didn't want a red one, because the red ones come factory equipped with a police car permanently installed in the rear-view mirror. ;) Alfa has one of the few shades of brown that actually looks good on a car, especially with the creme top/interior. I was going to order one in brown metallic, but the dealer had just gotten in a non metallic brown one that even had the sterero I had specified. That saved me a 3 month wait. And the metal flake paint turned out to be a passing fad, so 28 years (and a paint de-oxidizing treatment) later, I'm still happy with the color combination I bought.

On the EVO, I didn't want a red one, because Mitsu's red looks faded when new. I didn't want yellow, because of the fast/furious films. I didn't want blue on an EVO, because that's the STi's rally color.

I was thinking about silver. But then I saw a silver one. It passed me going the opposite direction in a 40mph zone. I had been looking at EVOs and STis for weeks, and it was still only about a car length away before I noticed it. I wanted "inconspicuous", not "invisible". So I went with black. But with that bleacher bench on the back, it also came factory equipped with a police car in the rear-view.

On the Ferrari, ... I got the color that was on the car I found that met the rest of my requirements.

Whaaaaat? insurance dropped?? Gotta be because you are now an excellent driver with no moving violations, etc. AND you are now older in a new insurance rating bracket, that happened to me...but ceritus paribus, insurance goes up, not down. Worked in the Travalers Tower in underwriting in Hartford for a while when I was young.

Stop trying to up the values on the red 308's (pointing index finger)

Hmmmm...OK, now you're older, so prem goes fdown....But when you reach 85 and still drive the ferrari, premium will go up again cuz the prune juice crowd, at least in FL, (and up Nawth), is more prone to accidents/dimentia/putting stick shift in1st gear instead of reverse!!

I would believe that red and brighter colors would prevent wrecks. Black and darker colors being opposite as they might not be seen as easily. Why are reflecters on the back of schoolbusses and on some big rigs and trailers? To make them much more visable in the dark. Most fire engines are BRIGHT for the same reason.

I think thats also true. But if your in a Ferrari or other exotic car, some people still want to race you.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

So, I think that brighter colors that aren't red would prevent wrecks.:) I doubt it would effect many peoples decision on what color to get though. Ferrari's look good in red.
