    Hi all -

Iain (isuk) just PM'd me about a current listing on eBay for a toolkit apparently being sold or listed on eBay in the UK and and asked if I had sold my Dino toolkit to someone in the UK, or if it is a scam. (See his PM and my response - edited - below).

The winning bidder on my Dino toolkit was in Switzerland and it was shipped to Switzerland.

The eBay seller/poster has used my photos AND description without my permission.

Strangely, when I use the abbreviated/truncated link that FCHAT converts the full url, the eBay posting is listed as withdrawn.

The eBay seller/poster has "0" feedback.

SO, "WARNING! WARNING! THAT DOES NOT COMPUTE! DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!"

Please also note though that until I hear back from either eBay or the person who was the winning bidder on that toolkit (I have other toolkits that I haven't posted photos of yet that will be available shortly), there is a possibility (BUT VERY REMOTE) that the buyer of my toolkit has put it back on the market, but I sincerely doubt it.

At a minimum, the seller/poster does not have permission from me to use my photos and description for the toolkit.

I will post again after I have attempted to get to the bottom of this.

    Iain -

    Thanks for the heads-up!

Clearly the photos and description were taken from my posting. My toolkit was shipped to Switzerland. I will send an email to the person who purchased my toolkit, but other than paying for the toolkit and sending me his address and email contact information, he did not respond to any of the follow-up emails that I sent him to ask whether he was happy with the toolkit, . . ., so I am not sure that I can expect a prompt response from him.

I will email eBay and tell them that the photos and descriptions were taken from my original listing without my permission.

But, there still is a very remote chance that he is trying to resell them, but if he is, it looks like he might be taking a very severe haircut on the price!!!

I will post a warning on FCHAT shortly.

Again, thank you for sending me a PM about it - I don't check FCHAT everyday, nor do I always check all of the postings.

    Best wishes,

    . . . ."

I just spoke with eBay security - hard to do directly, got to them by contacting eBay for seller help. They confirmed that the listing [ 300946231022 ] is a copy of my June eBay listing using my photos and my specific ad description, and eBay is "investigating."

So, you guys in the UK (if that is actually where the item supposedly is) should ask the seller a question through the eBay listing about where you could meet him to look at the toolkit! Just be sure to bring a bunch of friends along!

I saw the kit on ebay, and thought I had seen the photo and description before. Clearly it was from your listing. Tried contacting the seller but have not received a response.

The eBay toolkit auction is scheduled to end in about 7 hours. If someone buys this supposed "Dino Toolkit," please post and tell us all how it went.

I contacted the seller during the auction to see if there was was "buy now" price. After some time, he did come back to me and said I should make him an offer. I then replied and offfered him £500 and said I would collect and pay cash. Did not get a reply.

Interesting. It is listed (eBay Item # 300946231022) as sold (as of 8/13/2013) for GBP 599.99, the approximate equivalent of $928.78. Let's see what kind of feedback is eventually posted, if any, for the seller, chloepaloasar . . . . If positive feedback is left, this deal could have been a two-way scam on both sides -- be especially careful on eBay when dealing with sellers with ZERO, or NEAR ZERO feedback.
