    hey

my 04 360 spider is currently at classic coach (authorized ferrari repair facility) .. the guy says my battery is completely dead and has to be replaced.. I asked him if it was covered by warranty and he said that it was but i would have to take it to a dealer ( wide world of cars or Ferrari Long Island) in order to get it replaced under warranty.. isnt that weird considering they are an authorized facility and stuff

sorry if this should have been in the tristate section, but i figured more people read this

This is not an answer to your question but after you get your battery replaced here's something to remember. My battery went dead and was replaced under warranty. The dealer told me the battery is NOT replaced under warranty if the car is not driven 2500 miles a year.

Utkarsh: I'm not sure about the 2500miles (probably true), but usually yes the battery should be replaced under warranty. The 2500 miles thing makes sense, or the car being driven at least once every week or two (keeping in mind that the car does pull some current when its off...) for the alternator to charge it up.

It would make sense to me that the dealer is the place to handle the warranty claim vs an authorized repair facility. Am I missing something here?

I think it may have more to do with the actual testing and stuff. ie. dealer can test the battery and electronics system to verify that its faulty. An authorized repair facility would be more easier to get to, and they could do simple work like brakes failing, something wrong with the engine, etc... I'm sure they'd take care of it if the battery completely got fried too (I'd hope).

Main reason to me looks like the fact that theres a greater chance of finding an authorized repair facility (who would in turn bill the dealership) rather than a nearby dealership.

    Just my opinion :)

I would think authorized facility and authorized dealers are two different things. For a warranty repair, the dealer will get paid by Ferrari NA, but the facility does not.

Makes sense as well. But at the same time, I go back to my question... lets say you're 500 miles from the nearest dealer (which would of course be an authorized dealer). The next clsest place is an authorized repair facility who would be billing the dealer. The main reason I think that they have them is so that a person doesnt just take the car anywhere trying to get it fixed, and at the same time if something happens, there is an alternative to a dealer for immediate/close work.

    Just guessing anyway :)

I've never heard of an "authorized repair facility." Who authorized them?

If FNA authorized them, why can't they get reimbursement for warranty work?

I thought it was your father's car? Did he just give you a $225K allowance?
