Did "7 in 7" improve your enjoyment of F1, or make it a joke?

  1. Yeah, great stuff seeing so many guys in with a chance

  2. Nah, what a joke!

  3. There were 7 winners last year?

    Hey,

Time for another quick poll. :)

Interested to know what everyone thinks of what went on early last season; Do you think it was good or bad for the sport?

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Personally, +1

    However, there were many here early in the season who were whining that it was all a lottery and the tires had become way too important..... I guess the 'hatred' settled over the season. With hindsight, maybe I worded it wrong! Maybe should have been;

Were the tires too important to the outcome of too many races?

    Cheers.

I voted 'Yes'; however, if this should happen again and again..........it would not be good for F1, IMO.

Call it the NFL-ization of racing. 'On any given Sunday....' in the NFL has become 'On EVERY given Sunday'. Parity is entertaining, but the story has become boring....I wonder half way through any given game why I bothered. Same thing could happen to F1.

Missed my hope we'd have 8 WDC names in the top 10 at one of the races. I suppose it may be a while before we have another shot at that one.

Once the cream rose and the field resumed its natural complexion, the tire/fabricated winner critics faded immeasurably.

Although many Fchatters seem to appreciate a phenomenal car/driver/team combination allowing one manufacturer to walk away with the series, I find those seasons staggeringly boring and many of the races therein a near perfect tonic for insomnia.

Never a fan of McHam but pleased he won while I was in attendance to continue what was the end of the streak. With 2013 being somewhat of a lame duck year for the big guns, I'm hoping we'll witness a closing of the pack by the midfielders and more surprise podiums.

Neither. No one is going to remember the start of the season, everyone remembers the end. By the end of 2012, the championship came down to the usual suspects. It was a good season, but not legendary, IMO. Seven winners in seven races is going to just be one of those fun facts we remember.

OTOH, seems the WDC is getting younger & younger almost every year so maybe there'll be a few of 'em racing for a long time. But 8 out of 10 would have been something!

+1 The cream does indeed always rise over time. ;)

What a wonderfully crafted sentence! :) I guess I fall into the former category; I have no problem with one team utterly dominating - If you do the best job you deserve to reap the benefits and not have the FIA mess with you..... I simply doff my cap to you and look for good racing further down the field. No insomnia here. ;)

    MerHam now? ;)

How much closer can they get! +1 on "surprises" - Always good to shake things up a little.

It's your "lame duck" comment that got me though; Seems the big guns are pretty much going with two design teams. I don't think any of 'em will treat the start of the season at least as anything other than another season in which they want to win. If one or two dominate the others may decide to concentrate on next year slightly earlier than usual, but as always, hope springs eternal. They won't give up until it's obvious they're out of it IMO. These guys are all racers at heart after all.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Okay I'll buy into two design teams, Ian.

    BUT...
Does that mean the big dogs will increase their design team by 100 % or will they split their current team ? I believe it will be the latter, meaning they'll only have 50% of the think tank corralled for '13. Good news for those without the resources to concentrate on multiple year models...;)

As for Lewis, he's still McHam to me. This season however, he may become Ethel, the MerMan....

You may very well be correct my dear! ;)

My WAG is the old adage that "work expands to fill the time available". Most of 'em will expand their think tanks some, but they'll just get their heads down and get on with it. As always, the cream will eventually rise - Unlike some here I'm not expecting any great shake ups next year.....

    Ethel!! :D

Henceforward, *that's* gotta be him! Friggin' *perfect* fit! ;)

[Yes, it's juvenile, but if anyone has a better moniker for him, please speak now! :)]

    Cheers,
    Ian

However, as I'm not a McHam fan, and I'm sorry, but Ethel is just awesome! :D

Dunno why, but he *looks* like an Ethel to me......

With no disrespect to the Ethel's of the world of course. ;)

"Ethel the Merman" just got me!

    Cheers,
    Ian
