Hummm, i guess that's why i love Piquet, Ayrton and especialy Rubens!!!...oh wait, i actually don't like any of them!! Ps....Some say i'm spanish!!!
It's funny, but I think the complete opposite. I found Irvine a waste of space, but Massa a good journeyman.
I must say howeve that Capelli looked very impressive in a couple of races in 1990, in France and England he was very, very good, could have won if that March was a litle bit more reliable....
Yes, Capelli was very close to creating an upset that day. The MARCH was, I believe, penned by a certain Adrian Newey ... But Capelli, the "Dustin Hofman of F1" had a disastrous stint at Ferrari. I remember him reversing his Ferrari and "parking" it on top of the Armco near Rascasse at Monaco.
Funny what you say about Berger and Alesi, because Jean came on top at the end of the year both times at benetton...also he was considered the most "reliable " drive roin the championship in 96.....strange that a "useless" driver could be so reliable and still faster than his team mate...whom by the way always considered Alesi a very, very good driver....in fact once asked of who he feared most on track , Berger replyed "Alesi". Obviously each one as his own opinion, so i just have to respect yours, (i wouldn't if this was being said by some other people around here, by the simple reason that they are just plain ignorant) becaus ei know your very knowledgeable about f.1....but frankly to even compare Jean to damon is an insult....one just have to look what Jean did to him in Suzuka 95 to put aside any doubts....i can of course give you several othar examples if you like. Jean showed more in 1990 driving the Tyrrel tha damon in his entire carreer, but of course, perhaps we're not all looking for the same things when we watch, and that's ok by me.
PS: the Story between Alesi and Williams is not the way you put it. Alesi sign the contract and Frnak pro issed to anounce him as a driver in a certain date. At the same time Ferrari went after him but he refused telling them he had a conttract.....Alesi kept asking Frank to anounce the deal, and he kept pushing it, even Piquet talked with frank about this, Finaly it was suposed to be anounced after the french G.P but nothing hapened...at the same time, Jean learnt that Frank was talking in his back with mansell, trying to make him sign, while staling Alesi, preventing him from signing for a rival team!! Only after this, did jean agree to Ferrari, who payed for Jeans release to Williams....if someone diddn't honour his promises it wasn't Jean.
[QUOTERaw talent doesnt mean a thing to me: you have it or not, but it is what you achieve with it that counts: it is what you do with your talent, how you use it, what you achieve with it that is significant. The name of the game is still to pass the finish line first: one single (lucky) victory has nothing to do with ten, or twenty. The fact that some guy has just been able to do it once, whereas others have been able to repeat it time and time a gain still means a lot. And as they say in the Bible (no, Im not religious ) From those that have received a lot, a lot will be expected. Rgds
I supose that his camera detaching and hiting his rear brake disc at Monza when he was gpoing to win was also his fault? His engine blowing in Spa 91 when he was leading was also his fault? the fact that his car broke during pit stop at Monza 94, when he was lading by some 10sec, turning 1sec per lap faster than anyone else was probably also his fault....or at Monaco, when an imbecil like Brundle upon to be laped decided to push like crazy instead of letting him pass, hitting the barriers and taking Jean with him in the process...another victory gone....or Suzuka 95, when he was catching Shumacher while driving 3sec a lap quicker but transmission failed, or Monza 97 when he lead until Frrari pit stop was quicker alowing Shumi to overtake him...that to was his fault.....i think he would secretly sabotage his oen car the night before races, so it was surely all his fault. If a driver dominates 50 races but for some reason his car always brakes in the last lap, this does not make him any less worthy in my opinion that if he had won all of those 50 races....but tha'ts just me.
That's only one side of the story, Pedro. It has been said by others that Jean was also badly advised by his manager, who, if my memory serves me well (but I have a doubt on this?) was his own brother. Rgds
It does to me, because you have to cross the finish line to win. You know that everything above, which I am fully aware of, would not change my mind, and I know you won't either. And that will not prevent me to invite you for lunch as soon as you be in Paris, my friend... Rgds
Big difference whether your teammate helps you or whether the FIA manipulates the sport to keep the show interesting. F1 is a team sport and team orders are normal. Unfair steward decisions are plain fraud.
And that will not prevent me to invite you for lunch as soon as you be in Paris, my friend... Rgds
I will gladly accept
Just a couple of "pearls" for you my french friend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99DOD_X2mxU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tKW8eCvsEQ&ebc=ANyPxKq8Nj5jrhJjoM_1PsSjldRns6MHrabZX3vEf6cxHL1mCxyK8i7RWlgPwiGpnmxqlVstEJgYl8TgPOEJDZT3WjycQe9dNQ
I agree. But the stewards did get involved in the 1999 Malaysian GP. Barge Boards. Also, the FIA meddling in is nothing new. They did it back in 1994 i think with MS, Michelin tyres in 2003, Mass Dampers in 2006, and Spa 2008. I'm waiting to see if they gonna do something this year too. Since the introduction of the bloody V6s sheet, only Merc, Renault and Ferrari have won. Worse is, ferrari won 3, and Renault won 3. The rest was Merc.
