I am looking at purchasing a F430 (2005,06,07) around 25k miles. I have one in mind that looks great but A LOT of miles the last 2 years (15K+). Anyway to tell by carfax/autocheck
if it came from the track? The 'Exotics Racing' people say they give them back to the dealers.
It was in Las Vegas the last 2 years but Carfax report just says owners were 'Personal'
    Any thoughts...?

It's too old for them to use it on track the last 2 years. Latest they had a regular 430 (non scud) was probably 2009

a closer look at the car itself will reveal if it was tracked recently.

for starters: chips on the front bumper/rims OR resprayed front bumper

I do not think 15k miles are a lot in two years, my car was a garage queen and the owner before me put 10k miles in a year, and that was basically the reason I got the car from him, in those 11k miles all the hidden problems surfaced and he took care of them.
I got the car with 21k miles with a brand new clutch, new fuel pumps, new rollover valves, and several other repairs totaling 20k (plus he put another 5k in upgrades)

I have had the car for 8 months now and I have done nothing but an annual service and a minor evaporator leak repair.

This is not true. I've been twice this year and both times they had a 430 available, most recently in October.

No, according to CARFAX, Newport Beach, Ca then Arizona, then Las Vegas.
In total, Las Vegas area use was 20k miles from 04/2013 until sold 10/2015 (with a total of 37k miles on it now)

Interesting. When I went they were only stocking the newer cars and would sell the older ones. They had a 430 Scuderia and a 458 at the time ~2011. Maybe there was enough demand for a standard 430 they picked a used one up.

20,000 miles in las Vegas in 24 months. Things that make you go hummmm...

    Rental?
    Track rental?
    Private owner that drove it?

I'd want to see service records...that will shed some lights on who owned it and how it was cared for...

Ahh, the 'service records'. No records available prior to a dealer PPI(done 11/2015), but CARFAX report shows Penske Wynn Ferrari (closed now) did the work. About every 4k miles it came it for service. There were THREE services for 'Axles checked/Differential checked) within 1 year, a couple 'Engine checked' and 'Vehicle serviced' entries.
p.s. car drives fine for the most part. IF this was tracked this much, how much off the price would that account for? 10%, 15%.... ?
Thanks for everyone's help in this, I've owned my 308 for 6 years and this forum is priceless!

If it was tracked, that fact alone should fetch you about a 0% discount imho.

Penske Wynn just became Towbin Ferrari on Sahara. All the same people and records, so you could trying asking them about it.

Just opinion, but I almost think it sounds more like a rental, because why would Exotics Racing need to register the cars for public roads?

I just called Towbin Ferrari and no dice on the records, they won't release them (even for $$)
Privacy issue... Your 'rental' idea is a good possibility I guess, wouldn't the Carfax say so?
I know Exotics Racing (a least in SoCal) have a right side brake added, did the ones in Las Vegas also? If so, maybe there would be some holes in the floor I could search for..

there are hundreds of great used 430s out there for sale. Your best bet has always been a car with documented ownership, documented service, and no things that make you (or a future buyer) go hmmm. Look for a nice one-owner car from a nice enthusiast owner (or the loyal long-term customer of a dealership who is brokering the car). Why always wonder?

Do some research. I would start with carfax and then try to get some service records from the dealer. At the end of the day, if the condition is good and all service records are in place... who cares where the car came from? A PPI will reveal a lot as well.

Yes, they did have passenger brake pedals added. That's a good idea.

Good point on the rental also showing that way on Carfax.

To complicate things further, there is also a Dream Car racing in Las Vegas that does the same thing as Exotics Racing.

Maybe the best bet is to stay away from that one as others have mentioned if you can't track down its history.

That's not always true in my experience. Some cars just have a throttle knob on the passenger side so they can turn down the accelerator.

I have seen many rental exotics go through hands of dealerships and not once has it been identified as a "rental" on carfax.

To my knowledge also, exotics racing owns their cars, so they are just going to show as a normal title/registration.

I can say from first hand experience that I would have much rather purchased a car that was rented/tracked and maintained perfectly, rather than one with super low miles that sat in the owner's garage to more or less 'rot'. My wallet would have thanked me as well, and I probably wouldn't have been on a first name basis with my local Ferrari dealer in such a short amount of time. These cars want to be driven hard, it keeps everything moving and circulating. So if my experience has taught me anything and allowed me to advise a perspective buyer, it would be to NOT buy a garage queen. Be suspicious of low mile cars.
