Was this guy trying to kill himself or just other drivers, bicyclists, motorcyclists?

The driver is an idiot and should have his driving privileges suspended if not removed.

The camera work made the video hard to watch but gives a most likely accurate feel of what was going on in the car!

 

An idiot but I've seen this many times in Italy. He doesn't hit anything as such @3:16, car just bottoms out.

Video guy should have his license revoked.

I have a different take. To me, this seems real, raw, and intense. Dangerous, perhaps. But many things in this life are. If this was from thirty years ago, everyone would be hailing it as an epic ride.

The fact that the video and audio are poor quality (hand held) are contributing factors to the feeling of danger.

I think this is awesome! A great car driven in anger on a real road with a fantastic soundtrack. If you think this is so irresponsible, maybe you should drive a Prius in the righthand lane.

 

What is the high pitched whistling noise? Mine doesn't make that.

When I watched the video the sound immediately reminded me of the Stratos.

I don't hear that in the Dino. but the Stratos has always made that noise. My wife noticed it the first time she rode in the Stratos over 35 years ago and says she can hear it as I approach the house over a block away (we live in a quiet neighborhood). I always wondered what it was and why there is such a difference between the two cars. Well, the Dino in the movie has it too.

That short flick was supposedly done in a MB, not a Ferrari, sound overdubbed, using spotters at key locations on radios to the driver and at a much slower speed than you think due to the low height of the camera off the road.

Unnessessary chances were still taken though, NO DOUBT about it.

Yes, I read about that. Quite a disappointment, so I chose not to dig deeper and confirm it. Marvelous engine sounds though.

While the plan to use radios was in place IIRC it turns out they didn't work. The driver didn't hear anything so carried on at speed!!

 

The driving was marginal, not so much skilled as ballsy, and I don't see any reason to applaud a guy who has balls bigger than his brain, and that brain is mighty small. (Of course, who can tell for sure with the video quality.)

And the video? Sheesh, after about 30 second I thought I was gonna barf. Get a better camera, or mount one somewhere, PLEEZE? how often do you get motion sickness watching a video?

And to those who applaud a guy risking himself, his passenger and those traveling on the roads with him, well, let's just hope that you're never the guy in the opposite lane when an idiot like this passes someone around a blind curve and you're in the opposite lane.

(i) the speed wasn't as great as it seemed, thanks to the poor camera work and the unmistakable whine of an Italian engine. I've had people try to race me as I'm puttering off the line just because it *sounds* like I'm going fast....then I drop the hammer.

(ii) the road seemed narrower than it actually was, which added to the dangerous feel, but of course this is just the tunnel vision you get from a camera in that position.

(iii) the driver was unquestionably in control and dealt with unexpected hazards easily (parked cars pulling out, etc).

(iv) like it or not, this is the spirit that built the company. Glad to see it's alive and well in the birthplace of our beloved cars.

Be careful out there.
