I'm happy to let the mobile car wash guy clean my other cars, but I don't let him near my Lambo. What do Ferrari owners do?

I have a good guy that comes to my work that I let wash the 328. I don't take the TR to work, so I wash that one myself.

I don't take it to car washes anymore, the employees at the car wash seem to be more interested in who's gonna move the car up the line than just simply washing it. Also I can't take some of the ignorant comments and questions from other people waiting for their rides. Most people are pleasant, but then there are always a couple of idiots in the bunch with such comments as, ah what I would do with all that money, or it must be nice to be you. Anyways, I have already posted a thread on annoying comments.

I always wash it myself, it gives me time to enjoy the car even more.

You shouldn't have in the first place!!!! I don't want to sound like a deviant, but there's something sensual (quasi-erotic) about washing (and waxing) your own Ferrari. It's a feast for all the senses...except taste of course. Then again, Zymol wax does smell like coconut and banana. Hhhmmm...I think i'm going to take a stroll to the garage.

    Later folks.

The second best way to enjoy your Ferrari is washing and waxing it (driving is first). It's very relaxing.

Once or twice a year, I treat the F-car to a professional detail.

I just washed my F355 for the first time (have only had it two+ weeks) and I loved every minute of it. Went over every curve slowly and gently.....

Now if some girl like the one who washed the car in "Cool Hand Luke" ever wants to stop by and wash the car, I might be willing to relinquish the soap and water.....

Related question: when washing your Ferrari, how do you keep water out of the engine bay if your hood has one of those lovely air vents? It was bad enough with my 308, but now with the Mondial I have to worry about the battery in the front compartment getting soaked as well.

Wash it myself, of course. Great way to keep up on road rash and other effects of driving the car instead of keeping it in the garage!

Not sure about the battery issues related to your Mondial, but the quasi-exposed engine should not be a problem. The cars are designed to accept water in the engine bay area, and the electricals/chips are well protected. I get my car regularly washed (would wash it myself, but live in NYC, where there are no freakin' hoses), and wather is routinely splashed in the engine bay. Have never been faced with a problem.

As long as you don't pressure spray the engine compartment and/or throw a whole lot of water in there, you should be fine.

    HTH.

I don't know.... I enjoy washing my car myself. For some reason I tend to see a relation with the curves on my car and the curves on a woman's body, so I take my time and do a good job. I don't get wood though.... well, not all the time.

I do wash all my cars...and occasionally my brother's F-car....ha ha.

Here is the pic of his old F355 and I... I always enjoy washing the car as long as it's not an SUV or a van or a big saloon car. Anything bigger than the MB E-class, I won't touch it..ha ha

I hand wash all my "toys".. the MB and Explorer go to the touchless car wash.

I agree with the fact that it's relaxing. Put some music on and relax..

By the way, you guys with dark colored cars need to try NanoWax... Simply amazing.. Much better at removing swirls than Zaino or any 3M product (Imperial Hand Glaze, Swirl Remover, etc)..
