I also use a Micro-fiber mitt to wash it and then I blow dry it.

Ah, you philistines, stop using chamoises!!! You children prolly want to know where all those little swirl scratches in your clear coat come from! Well, they're really in the wax coat, but still...

Chamoises can retain specs that cause micro abrasions in your paint. Mirco fiber towels, or soft cloths are less likely to do that. Drying with a leave blower is wacked because unless you do it in a dust free environment, you are gonna blow more crap on your finish off the ground around the car. If you want to use air, use your compressor with a fine tip ferrcrissakes!

Your engine cover has louvers so it's made to get wet. And the engine is beneath it. So that's it. Just don't go blasting the pressure hose in there. I seldom wash my car conventionally, preferring to detail it after every drive and keeping it covered. When I do wash it, I use the bucket method mostly (lots of water, very little soap, address small areas top to bottom, drying before I move to the next area).

The best detailer is Griots. Nothing better that I have found so far for the money. Their paste carnuba wax is pretty trick too, although I am addicted to Zymol because its application and removal process is more sensual and, oops, TMI . (Well at least Chuck Bennet made it look that way :))

Remember as long as you keep a good deep coat of wax on the car, that is what is going to take the every day damage to your finish, not the paint/clear coat. This is why you wax your car and then strip off the old completely for the next waxing. Most of the swirls are removed by washing and a light polishing since the old wax is (hopefully) where they are. Haze and swirl remover (Mothers has a good product) helps fill in clear coat damage and 2-5 coats of Zymol does the rest. Calm down, 2 guys can do a single coat in like 20 minutes. :D

If you like Zymol Ital...try P21S works equally well, but goes on and off soooo much easier. Recommended! ;)

+1. Microfiber is cheap. Once a towel gets soiled, I throw it out and get a new one.

Nope, me too. I wash my car weekly with a hose and then Chamois dry, or sometimes I just get it done at the shopping mall. Depends how much time I have.

Just washed the 355 yesterday! Water, soap (two bucket), rinse with hose then with deionized water, use the garden blower on engine and body. Final dry with micro-fiber towel and Griot's liquid wax. Use quick detailer between washes. Spray engine with a light spray of WD-40 for the final finish. Looks great, no problems. Enjoy the car! BTW: I also use the same process with the Gallardo and the SL.

When I had my 308 , I used to cover the engine with a plastic contractor bag,
then close the lid, before washing, that way I would'nt unecessarily soak it.
    Worked great.

water will not hurt the engine but it should be cool before you soak it. Try not to use a caustic cleaner.... it will dry out your hoses and discolor the valve covers.

Can you apply P21S as you do with Zymol?

First, open plastic contain and smell the banana and other natural oils - Yummie!

Then, swirl your applying hand in the paste and get a good coating on it. Yep, use your hand, no applicator necessary or recommended.

Rub the sensuous curves of your Italian baby in small sections of about 2 square feet.

Right after you apply it and well before it dries, take it off with a soft terry cloth or old ripped T-shirt (I have been know to tear mine off my back).

Rub all the moist wax off the finish but you do not have to get all of it completely off before moving to the next section.

When you finish a large area, buff it to a gloss with an orbital polisher with a soft clean sheepskin pad.

When you are done with the car, go over it again with a cheesecloth buffer and/or a soft detail rag (lint free cotton buff towel) to remove excess oils which appear as surface craze.

Listen to her purr with delight afterwards.

Is it something like that with P21S? :p

Just google it the stuff is everywhere. Silver top is the best according to DETAILGUY here on Fchat for Rosso Corsa, but the dark top is good too. PM him for more info, he is a great guy.
