I'm not particularly afraid of getting the car wet, but what's the best strategy for dealing with the vents on the engine compartment lid? I feel like using a hose anywhere in the vicinity of the rear deck lid has the potential to make a huge mess inside. Any tips?

I've been pressure washing the engine bay for years. Did it with my 430 and do it frequently with my 458.

I put a towel over the engine and close the cover. Then I remove the towel and blow off or wipe any excess water. My engine compartment always looks brand new.

This is a great idea...provided the engine is not hot. I will try it. Memo to self: remove towels before starting engine!

I use a master blaster over the entire car and engine bay to blow off road dust, then I use a waterless/rinseless spray (Griots) with 800 pile MF towels. Check out autogeek....they show the procedure. Much better and quicker than a bucket and hose if you are cleaning off road dust. If you have caked on dirt mud, then the full wet wash may be in order. I don't get my Ferrari in those situations.

What do you do for the wheels + wheel wells? That's where most of my dirt is. Are the waterless chemicals okay on the CCBs?

yes...the ccb's are hardly dirty brakes compared too corrosive pad/steel rotar emissions. I waxed my wheels with rejex. That said, the wheels wipe clean off with the griots or other brand(s) ...waterless rinseless cleaners. They are mild and lubricated detergents. Wheel wells, I would use a hose and nozzle. Don't need it if you drive on dry roads.

It was meant to be driven in the rain, no need to worry about air intakes. I say get it wet, drive it in the rain, wash it like it's a car... set yourself free. Wash it with common sense, it is no different than any other car.
